So I read this article which purports to explain how your weight can fluctuate so much even when you're clearly eating too few calories and should be steadily losing fat, and then you get a sudden drop, or "whoosh effect." The author reckoned it's to do with water (no surprise there) but linked it particularly to carbohydrates. If in the first week of your diet you use up all your glycogen, hen you get a sudden drop because it's stored with loads of water. Then, when you're dieting if you eat carbs, your body holds them temporarily as glycogen, and holds on to a bunch of water to store them in. Then since you are eating too few calories, it goes ahead and uses them up and you get a little whoosh drop in weight. I have nothing better to do with my time than to google "how can my weight go up and down by a kilo a day". Well I do, and yet...

Ah, water. Plus, if we're largely made of water (is it 80%??) when the moon comes by, it pulls you up, and when it spins away, it drops you down again. Like tides. Ok I'm not being facetious, seriously, if the moon can pull the sea up and down, what does it do to the water in us??? #futuregoogles

Oh I think it definitely does, Newton has a formula for it, although I suspect effect is closer to 1gram than 1kg. I am so hungry today. I want a big plate of sausage and mash but in fact whet I have for my supper is a big bowl of watery mushroom soup. Meh. But that's because tomorrow, WINE.

Ah, wine :) Well, tonight we have play date pasties, then tomorrow, practically nothing. Or watery veg soup. Or some such. Lunch today was one mouthful of bread and a small bowl tomato soup... it's a balance really. I suppose. Said in my grudgiest voice...

I can't get on with the uber prescriptive diet form on this site, I can never find all the stuff. I might start logging it in a journal b/c it helps to note the food but the search and fail (ntm the lack of accuracy 'cause we do mostly home made) sort of belies the purpose....
