Bubbles McBubble's Journal, 02 May 23

Well I joined the gym yesterday. It's a bog standard no-frills gym, which is fantastic. Everyone there is there to do their reps.

Machines have changed in the 4-odd yrs since I've been there, or perhaps different brands have different ways of being used, the adorable, truly lovely assistant helped me out on all of them. I'm an old lady now. Everyone in the gym was just pleased to see I hadn't sat down and died. One open-faced, courteous gay guy was too happy to help me find my machines and said 'you've got to start somewhere' and all that, I hope he hasn't worked out what a terrible thing that was to say, I hope he basks in my joy at his help, and doesn't cringe at his tiny clanger. Anyone here who cringes at their tiny clangers take note: never feel bad for unintentional oopsies.

My brother told me a story after I did a particularly horrific oopsie about how he was at a party, and he met someone he hadn't seen for a while, and said 'how are you' and the guy told him he had ----- cancer and the bruv said 'oh, that's terminal isn't it?' and spent the rest of the party wanting the earth to open up and swallow him, the point being if whatever you did or said was not worse than that, let it go. :D

I have a 3 session freebie, and I think I will join. I set the weights low, didn't do too many reps, I could feel a bit of work but not too bad. I feel fine today but I imagine the gym will slow weight loss as I pack on the fluids. I can carry 5 kg of fluid from muscle building, so I just want to take it sooo slow that my body doesn't realise and doesn't go BOIOIOIOING and slurp up all of the ambient humidity as it attempts to heal itself.

Lots of drinking water. and a day off, and back on wednesday (it's tuesday here now) to do lower half and some more cardio.
