Can anyone explain why I'm losing weight quicker now that I'm just dieting, compared to when I was dieting and exercising? 🤔

I've been losing 0.5kg daily whereas when I was exercising a few weeks ago I was losing that every 2 days.

I'm definitely not complaining 🤣 but I'd love to know why

You perhaps boosted your metabolism and it’s working well now. Though body gets adapted to everything quickly, so don’t give up on the exercises 💪😃

Talka is spot on. Also, even a very modest amount of exercise will cause body recomposition which may cancel out any losses you might see on the scale. Diet is defo the most efficient weight loss tool but exercise has many benefits 🙂✌️💪

when you were exercising, you could have been gaining little bits of muscle.

As others have said, it’ll be because you’re not gaining muscle from the exercise. But if you can, you should try to keep up the exercise, particularly if you can do something like weights or other exercises that build muscle - having a bit more muscle will raise your resting metabolic rate and should reduce your body’s natural inclination to reduce metabolic rate in response to your reduced calorie intake.

Thanks everyone that makes sense! I only temporarily stopped exercising as I was under the weather for a while but I'll get back on it today 💪😊

You can lose a fair amount of weight when you are under the weather too. Any muscle gains may reduce if you are not exercising or eating properly and the body burns a lot of calories fighting illness. But it is great that you are aware of how your body is reacting and thinking about the process. I hope you got back to your workout today!

as everyone else says weight loss and fat loss are not the same thing, so you should always try to do some exercise. Don't be obsessed with the scales, get a tape measure, and record your readings. that way, you will always know if you are making improvements.

exercise builds muscle which is heavier than fat... but burns more calories so is great for fat loss. dieting loses fat and muscle.
