Is jet lag always worse when traveling west? That is my experience. Or, is it that the excitement of travel is gone and getting back to normal seems terribly uninteresting? I have a full day of work ahead of me. I woke up at 3:00 this morning, and as tired as I am I haven't been able to sleep a bit since. I am hoping coffee can get me through the day.

We have two kids with the flu. I did not get the shot when I got my covid booster, because I had to work and didn't want to feel too sick. Gosh, I hope I don't get it and miss a mountain of work. One son has missed work all week. "Welcome home, mom and dad. Have we got a gift for you!" We were smashed into trains with barely breathing room sometimes and did not get sick on our travels! I am hoping for the best!

So, after eating absolutely everything I wanted for two weeks, the scale is up. But, I still feel swollen from traveling, so it might naturally dip down a bit. It is time for me to rein it in and get to work. My only goals for this week are to log every bite, weigh every day, and get to the gym a single time. That doesn't seem too overwhelming, but it will get me in the swing of things. Wish me luck! I know how to do this. It is hard, but I don't want the "hard" of having these extra pounds weighing me down. One step at a time... it is going to take time!

Takes longer to fly West bc of earth spin. And the ending of the going on vacation 'high'. Melissa, before going on any vacation, I always make sure all washes/kitchen/bills etc. are done so I don't have to do anything except get into bed and reacclimate without undue stress when I arrive home. Tip: When planning a vacation always add an extra day for yourself to keep as much of that vaca 'high' as possible :-) Thanks for the photos, I really enjoyed 'your' vacation :-)

Oops, got distracted before reading the rest of the post. Kids at home with the flu! That's tough. Okay, having your bed/bath waiting (fresh sheets) to climb into. Erq, is so correct, Never weigh yourself right after flight/getting home. Relax and enjoy :-) Sending good healthy vibes your way :-)

I hope the kids get well soon, and you don't catch their viruses!

Having lived in several foreign countries and traveling to over 30…… YES flying west is always worse. Love the pics of flowers. Hope everyone gets better soon! Yay for bolstered immune systems! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Thanks, wifey! I lost it "overnight." Erquiaga, it was such salty food and, and I know it takes a while to stabilize... Both weight and rest. I slept half and hour later... Woke up at 3:30 instead of 3. 😅 Craziness... If I didn't have so much to do, I'd be more relaxed about it and have a nap and let my body adjust, but I've go too much to do to be so tired! 😁

Thanks, breezy! Unfortunately, when making flight plans, we wanted to maximize time away and minimize cost, so flying on the cheapest day didn't exactly give me options. I did have one day before work before diving back in full time. I'm glad for that! But... This pesky problem of not sleeping when I need to is trouble!

Mermee! Thanks so much for your encouragement! It was a wonderful time away and worth the challenge of acclimating again to life as normal. It is a bit harder now that I'm older, but NOTHING was as challenging as helping a toddler from Siberia adjust to a new timezone while I had another toddler and three other kids 4,6 & 8 years old... And a husband who had pneumonia. I didn't think I'd make it! This is easy! Well, that is what I'm telling myself! 😁

Eva, I'm doing ok! And no sign of being sick yet! 😁 KFrys! You do have some experience! I'm hoping I start feeling normal soon. It took three huge mugs of coffee to get me through work yesterday! Nikina, thank you. Hubby took one girl to urgent care yesterday... And she tested positive for flu... Poor girl is really suffering, but it was her lungs we wanted checked. It will just take time. She is staying masked and in her room. We are hoping to escape the plague, but we will see! 😳

Thanks Diana! Not much we can do but wait it out and hope for the best. I always forget how annoying jet lag is... It wasn't too bad going to Spain. We we feel better soon! ❤️ Silvi-es+, thank you!!

Agreed whenever I’ve flown west from Europe to the America’s feel like I’ve been hit by a bus 🚌! Even eastwards as far as Oz did not compare - however that feeling of equilibrium when back in sync is always nice 👌

humpTdumpty, well you have the experience to know for sure! We traveled east a couple times to middle Siberia and didn't have close to this much trouble... Of course we were younger then, and maybe it was the endless daylight that helped over there. I finally feel like I got enough sleep last night. I still woke up at 3:30 and 4:30, but I was able to go back to sleep until 6:30! Yay! Now I just have to fight off the sickness swirling around me. So far, even though they hubby did succumb, I'm hanging in there.

So glad you had a beautiful trip. I was in Italy in October, and going back next Fall.

Glad you're recovering from jet lag. Strangely, I've never experienced it. Sorry so many have the flu, hope you stay well. BTW, I took Covid booster & flu shots at the same time and suffered no ill effects.

Thank you HCB! How I'd love to go to Italy next fall! It is a possibility! We have been before, but I've only for a few days at a time... Quick visits when staying in Germany. I'd like a couple weeks! We will see!

Shir, with all of your travels, how is that possible??? Lady, are you human? 😃❤️ It hits me every time to the point of being so exhausted I'm nauseous. I've learned I need to go slowly the first few days of international travel and get as much daylight as possible! I'm feeling pretty normal now and am still relatively healthy... Well compared to the people in my home I'm doing great! 😳

I have no idea Melissa, my husband ( now ex) suffered from it badly. We'd get somewhere and I'd be ready to get out and go and he'd lay there moaning.
