Evacuation notice for a town about 6 miles north of us. Lots of smoke. You can look up the China Nose fire if you wish. Eyes are struggling, sinuses, lungs... it's horrible. We went through this about 25 years ago with the Canal Flats fire. It's so dry. Praying people don't lose their homes.
I actually went looking for the old distance calculator I used to use to find the distance between here and that site. On the site it said,
"The Distance Calculator previously found here has been providing service for almost 10 years and has become increasingly difficult to maintain.
"Its time has come to be retired. We refer you now to the much superior route planning feature on DriveBC that includes distance calculations and other benefits."
Guess what, BC Govt. More complex isn't necessarily 'superior'. This is a trend in all of society that needs to be changed.

Thanks, Buffy and everyone else. Sinus and eye issues go with the smoke. I believe we'll be fine. Praying for people who will be affected. They've evaced a few people but the fire is still about 10 km from anywhere significantly populated. With fires, you just never know what could happen. It's a waiting game with the weather. It's so, so dry.

Yep, that too, but it's under control at the moment. I'm going to stay away from dairy for a bit. Bought a bottle for nasal irrigation today. TMI? I imagine the drug stores are doing a bang up on eye drops and sinus over the counter items. In the avatar, you can see the crest of the hill with the smoke behind. Hill is completely obscured today. 60% chance of rain tomorrow, but a threat of lightening as well. :| That's the wild card.

Feel for you. Wild fires are really common here in New Mexico. Have several every spring/early summer before the monsoons start. We have storms that produce more lightning than rain. Had one in June that had over 40 strikes and less than a 10th of inch rain. Then there's the controlled burns that don't always stay controlled. Luckily we're having a great monsoon year and are already over average. Wish I could send some your way. As far as the smoke, let it be a reminder of why you don't live in a smoggy city.
