Wow. Weird. .2 pounds variance over a 5 day period. If I didn't have the calipers I'd be second guessing myself all over the place again. 2200 cal today, so my fall drop in weight may be delayed yet by a bit. Who knows. It would be so easy to get obsessive over it... again.

My dog is doing better, though it's day to day with her. I had to carry her inside on Monday. I took her to be beach yesterday and she went into the water but just waded in and stood there. Then instead of running all over the place she lay beside me in the sun... then waded... then lay beside me. :(

I am really enjoying her no to the fullest. Like everything, after a while we take it for granted until it's taken away. We've been advised that if it's not auto immune it is likely spleen cancer. Apparently it's painless and she will simply go in her sleep. I am not enjoying the process.

“True happiness is to enjoy the present, without anxious dependence upon the future, not to amuse ourselves with either hopes or fears but to rest satisfied with what we have, which is sufficient, for he that is so wants nothing. The greatest blessings of mankind are within us and within our reach. A wise man is content with his lot, whatever it may be, without wishing for what he has not.” ― Seneca

“After you find out all the things that can go wrong, your life becomes less about living and more about waiting.” ― Chuck Palahniuk

“Standing on a street corner waiting for no one is power.” ― Gregory Corso

“Waiting is a form of passive persistence.” ― Ogwo David Emenike

We're okay, Bella. We spend a lot of time together. She gets a treat or a pat whenever she wants. She knows she's loved. We'll go on together until we can go no further. :'(

Oh no, I'm so sorry! My dog had bladder stones removed a few months ago, one the size of a quarter that was about to rupture, and as if that wasn't traumatic enough, they found a mass on his spleen and removed about half of the organ to get it all. Luckily, it was benign, but it was such a scare, I understand how crappy this has to be for you both :( can they remove the spleen if it is? Humans can live without theirs, just wondering if dogs could too?

So sorry to hear about your dog. Our beagle developed auto immune several years ago - I know it's painful to see them this way.

I'm very sorry about your dog. We know when we get them something like this is inevitable but they're like family and that doesn't make dealing with it any easier. Saying a prayer for you and her.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I am an animal lover and know the pain all too well. Taken for granted until it's taken away, intense words. Thank you for the quotes, much needed. <3

That's her in my Avatar. :) We had a growth removed a couple of months ago. It may have been a mast cell. The autoimmune turned up in the labs as a secondary problem. It's really back and forth with her. Blood count is so low we're not sure she'd survive surgery even if we were willing to put her through it. One local vet is for it and the other who works in the same clinic says it's too risky. If there was ever a dog I would consider cloning.... Thanks you guys.

I just saw your new avatar. She is beautiful.

She is, isn't she? I've had her since she was almost a pure white little puppy and I brought her home on a 600 mile puke filled trip. Thank goodness for dog carriers. She's a funny dog. She barks at anyone entering our yard... unless they're carrying a guitar case.
