Okay. Looking at my weight over the last 10 days it's pretty clear that my only solution is to disregard my weight during this phase of the whole process. It's all over the map. I believe the difference is water and level of glycogen storage after very hard workouts. The downside is, I don't have a clear view of fat gain/loss, which I really don't have anyway because there's no way of knowing my muscle gains either. The up side is, it's a logical reason to quit worrying about the weight fluctuation. Have a great day all.

There are some electronic body fat measuring devices on Amazon for only about $30. The one I was interested in is the Omron Body Fat Loss Monitor. I don't know how accurate it is, but it might be a better way to track your muscle gains than the scale :) Otherwise, if you're eating right, I wouldn't worry about what the scale says. You're doing great!

Having watched Bill and his ups and downs, perhaps it works this way. Don't know if it's the same program, but he's taken over a month or more to see results and had an amazing weigh in today. Patience?

Patience? Do you know who you're talking to?

Thanks Christy. I could do that, but dang! It's so easy for me to get fixated on a number. What would I do if I had 5 or 10 numbers to deal with. *Groan*

Just a thought. :~)

Youre right, disregard the scale, put it up or chuck it out the window. Trust the program, and weigh in every couple weeks to guage your progress. You are so much more than a number, now go get ripped! :-)

Making me proud NM!

Get ripped. Yolanda... I don't drink much. ;) Dad. I'll try to make your proud, lol. Can I make you proud though by eating sweetarts instead of 'pure dextrose' for my insulin spie and eating dirty instead of clean while refusing to do workouts that were designed for a genetically gifted Austrian in his 20s on steroids? ROFL I appreciate it though and I take it as a true desire to see me succeed. I won't try to make you proud though - I already have too many things on my plate. :D

LOL. So true, @NM. I'd say as long as your weight stays within that fighting range you've kind of outlined, you're all good. BTW, I agree with Christy. Love that BF% monitor. I used to have an Omron and LOVED IT! Then my wife got it in the divorce. Hah! Anyway, it's a good one. BTW, I'm so impressed at your success at maintenance. You're doing FANTASTIC, sir!!! Keep up the great work!

:) Thanks, Rob. I'm such a micro-manager it drives me a little nuts sometimes. Of course with a weight loss the tendency is only to see that. With a bulk, there's a matter of trust that something is going on beyond fat gain. Calipers while moving up slightly still put me at the same bodyfat as the end of the cut. So the Omron is good? Was there much fluctuation in the body fat reading on it? I'm surprised. They look fairly inexpensive.

I usually give more importance to my waist measure to gauge fat because of that same problem. It's difficult to know what weight variations when you're trying to build muscle :)

* what weight variations "mean"..."

Yeh. I found that Omron was a pretty good unit. I think every fat reading device experiences some fluctuation, but to be honest I think even the swimming pool one would too, because the body does so many adjustments throughout a given day. But I found it to be pretty accurate for the most part. Really did love that one. I always did it first thing in the morning so it was apples to apples...

Chad... I get the impression you're doing the same program. How long have you been on it?
30 Mar 14 by member: ClassicRocker
I did a similar diet for 3 months and gained 6 lbs. Back to losing again for summer.

That is my concern with all these gadgets too, Bill. I think they have a place, but I really doubt you've lost 5 pounds of muscle. You've been lifting consistently and you're not eating below your BMR. I would just have new numbers to fixate on. lol --- Chadlius is correct CR. The way CBL works you can either use it to bulk or to cut fat. It's a matter of how often you have days with carbs in the evening. If you have two days consecutive of rest, the first day should basically be Atkins style is my understanding.

I have a Tanita but it's far from accurate. If you drink a cup of water it adds that percentage as fat ;)

To their defense, it's an older model though.
