Hi Peeps,
Day 25 of Sober For October, I have to be honest I've not found it that hard, it's only when we prep the evening meal that I have a drink in my hand, but sparkling water or tonic and lemon soon become the Norm for us, thinking of doing Dry January next, it's got be good to give the old body a rest from all that alcohol ..... Weigh in day today and I'm very Happy, I've not been this weight for a very long time, You can really see an improvement around my middle area, I do believe there is a waist in there somewhere, it's just hiding behind all that flab!!! Onwards and downwards I say ..... This Keto Diet is working for Me
84.4 kg Lost so far: 9.1 kg.    Still to go: 11.8 kg.    Diet followed: 100%.

Does anyone know of a sweetener that is lower in carbs than Erythritol ? As I noticed that 1 tsp is 5g net carbs no different to honey that I was using before!!

Hi Tracey 2211 ..... I started losing the weight well before I stopped the alcohol for SFO, But as saying that, on this Keto diet the tipple I liked to drink the most was Brandy which has zero carbs anyway, I was really doing it just to see if I could and also to give my body a rest from the Demon Drink for health reasons. At the beginning of this diet I suffered what they call the Keto flu, I worked through that for the first few weeks till my body adjusted itself to the change, I very nearly gave up on it as I was really ill, I'm so glad that I didn't, this is the only diet that has worked so quickly for me I've tried many over the years ..... I've put myself on phase 2 now, one day a week, which is a Sunday for me, I can eat up to 100 grams of net carbs if I wish too, but the rest of the time just stick to a regime of between 10 and 30 net carbs or less per day ..... I had to get my head around all this eating of such high fat foods like butter, cream, cheese and fat on meat, for years I had always restricted myself because I thought it was bad for me ..... I'm learning new stuff every day about Keto but so far so good!!!

Hi Nutricali, Not anymore, Those first two weeks were so horrendous, I had stomach cramps with lots of trips to the loo, very bad headaches, nausea and generally feeling unwell. I started to read up on it and found that lots of other people went through it the same, so I persevered ..... The best thing is I never feel that hungry like I did on the low cal diets and after I've eaten I feel very satisfied

Well done Maggy ,I am so pleased that the Keto plan is working so well for you. And well done too on giving the alcohol a break for October. I am still managing to lose an average of one pound a week,I know it is not much but I prefer it this way. Still having one drink on 2 or 3 nights a week. Saw my 3 great Grandaughters at the weekend, that kept me on my toes. Keep up the good work and stay safe everyone. Love Lily x

Hi Lily, I will definitely be having a drink on Nov 1st, a Brandy and coke to be precise, not that I'm counting down the days or anything!!!! ..... That's What I miss the most not seeing the grandkids, talking on the phone and texting is not the same as seeing them in person, it seems to be the way of the world at the moment so roll on to getting a vaccine to protect us and maybe we can return to some form of normality ..... 1 lb a week is a good steady loss Lily, now my body has adapted to the keto, upping the carb intake should give me a healthier weight loss strategy, in the beginning it was quite quick and to be honest it took me by surprise ..... Got to be careful that I don't end up looking like an Old Wrinkly Deflated Balloon, but I could be too Late, Ha! Ha!..... BFN xxx
