Okay, what the heck? Tracking 100%, even down to my sugar free chewing gum and gained 2 lbs overnight. And made a point to add in my daily exercise that I had previously been slacking on. I don't get it. I am going to stick with the plan, since its only been 2 days, but geez.

Over the last few years my diet cycle has been to lose weight eating low carb, give up on low carb, and then gain it all back. I know years ago I started with low carb because CICO on its own didn't seem to work for me. Since then, I have always had in my mind that I am carb sensitive and can't lose weight eating carbs. I'm hoping that I just was not good at tracking honestly back then and now will be better. Maybe there is just a water weight balance that I need to reach after restarting on carbs again, then I will see scale changes in the right direction.

Has anyone else experienced initial weight gain after switching from low carb to CICO with more carbs?

Thanks for all the support FSF!

I think it is just water weight since you upped your carbs. It happens to me as well if I suddenly eat a lot carb. We "artificially" weigh a few pounds less when we low carb because our cells do not quite hold on to as much water as it does with higher carbs. Just keep going with your plan.

Yes, I agree totally with liv. I don't do low carb now, but I did for some time. Our bodies seem to just naturally retain more water weight when not in that low carb state. Also, when I start ANYTHING new with working out, my weight jumps up a bit. Don't fret!!! Just follow your plan, and I'm sure you will see the scale move the direction you want soon. ❤️

Word for word have the same problem as this !!! I did low carb for so long that now i either do it lose a few pounds then fall off and gain it all back or at this point after years of the low carb train I feel my body doesn’t even flinch when I resort to low carb it simply maintains and hold on but the second I try healthy carbs like rice or whole grain bread my weight shoots up and I even feel like I look bulkier . I’m sorry you are dealing with this I know it’s a complete mental battle to tell yourself to keep eating carbs and reset your body when it’s contradicting to the only thing that’s worked in the past . For me I always see the scales go up and jump ship on the healthy carbs and run back to low carb but it’s not working for me and I’m trying to fight the battle of my weight going up knowing I’m eating good and working out and just stick with eating more carbs. Hopefully we can see results here soon . Good luck ❤️

Portion control and moderation. Healthier choices most of the time, less healthy choices once in a while.

Yep, definite water weight is my take on it. 😬 You’ll be just fine and weight will fluctuate every day and several times in the same day. Also remember the scale is only a guide post. 😊👍 Measuring is an awesome way to get a good grasp on progress and how things fit.

Stick to your plan. I fluctuate 1-3 pounds per day based on how much carbs I eat and how angry my muscles are after working out!! Key is to weight, measure and log your foods. I prefer weighing over measuring as it’s more accurate. Good luck!!

Unless your husband puts his foot on the scale while you’re standing on it 🤣😂 The stinker

just the bodyweight changes can cycle over a few days - even longer - just based on elimination

It's quite common to regain some weight after no longer severely restricting carbs. It's water, so it doesn't really matter, because some of your weight loss from cutting carbs was water, not fat (what you want). I went up a couple of pounds as I transitioned from a low-carb and sometimes very low-carb diet to one more liberal in carbs. After that, though, sticking to caloric restriction, my weight has consistently gone done over the weeks.

I could not sustain low carb and would gain back more than i lost. 2 days is not showing you if you are on the right calorie count for you. I had to figure out what worked for me. with the meds i was on it turned out to be 1200 calories per day (i average over a week) and exercise. Without the exercise i don't lose. . I also had to figure out a way of eating i could sustain. It took some time and tweaking along the way.

I didn't go from low carb to CICO, because I had already long ago stopped low carb, so I can't help you there. But I am down 30 pounds since July doing CICO. This comes after moderate success wit low carb for years, but frankly, being pretty miserable since I love variety and don't enjoy fake high-carb foods. I would get to the point where the thought of more low carb food would turn my stomach. It simply wasn't sustainable for life. Now, I feel like I could easily sustain CICO forever. I am not deprived of eating anything. My goal now is to put more healthy foods on my plate more often. In any case, I highly recommend sticking with your plan for a week. If your calories still don't go down, then they are simply too high. But, don't expect every day to be down. My chart is up, down, up, down. But, there is an overall downward trend over time. It really slowed for a couple weeks in Sep., but I stuck with the plan and the laws of physics kicked in and my body had no choice but to lose again. In short, CICO will work for everyone. Even long-term low carbers. It may mean lowering your calories more, but it's too early to know.

Thank you all for sharing and supporting! I lost over 2 lbs in 24 hours, water Im sure. I am really loving CICO so just for the variety alone. You can only eat so much eggs and bacon before you get tired of it. Lol
