34.9% Nice bfp :)

Edited to add:

So my quest to make our household healthier continues. We have a coupon for free pizza and Chuck wants to use it tonight. He's all excited about it so I couldn't say no, but I really don't want pizza tonight. I'm sick of it and I need to lose weight. Maybe if I talk to him before he gets off work I can suggest a change in plans. Chuck has painful arthritis, so last night I was reading Too Young to Feel Old, the arthritis doctor's 28-day formula for pain-free living. Chuck's been meaning to do something about his pain but is overwhelmed with three jobs right now so I decided to do some reading up for him. If you are a praying person, please keep a new job for my partner in your prayers. There is one in particular he really wants. That way he won't have to have three. Anyhoo, I meant to say that the arthritis doctor says that the most important thing you can do for your arthritis is change your diet. Eat good fats, don't eat bad fats. Eat good carbs, don't eat bad carbs. Unfortunately, Chuck doesn't naturally follow any of these rules. But I have trained him to eat whole-grain noodles and salmon and I will have to make those more often. There are some fantastic recipes in that book! Several chicken recipes, and although I don't normally eat chicken myself, I may start eating/making it to encourage Chuck to choose it over pizza and frosted flakes. You know, I always saw myself with a health food nut like me, but I love this man and our differences help us grow. I need to go to the store and get some ingredients for some of the recipes in the book that I think he will be willing to try. And some salmon and noodles. And sararay prompted me to think (again) about all that cereal he's eating. I think I can get him to switch to whole grain cereal if he must eat it all day. He's made some changes... I've gotten him to eat fruits (well, real fruit snacks) and soymilk. The soymilk was his idea. I wouldn't have pushed it myself because the health info on soy is controversial, but he is so proud of himself for trying a new thing that I just can't discourage it. I am proud of him, too. The arthritis doctor said that soy is anti-inflammatory but he doesn't recommend it because of the controversial health info. But I drink it all the time and don't plan to stop, so I can't expect my bf to go from the traditional american junk food diet to eating *better* than I do. :) Hopefully the soy's anti-inflammatory properties will help ease his pain.

Sometimes I think I sound controlling or nagging and I hope I don't come across that way. I want to work with my bf so that what we eat pleases him too. But I hope to marry him and I want him to be setting a good example for our children. I also want us to eat together-- something he wants too-- just not pizza every night!!

Thanks for listening. Have a great day!

Congrats to both of you for making positive changes! He sounds like he is making a good effort (reward him for that) Also you can make your own pizza without all the oil and it comes out great! You buy store bought dough, skim mozzarella cheese, some pureed tomato sauce and then add any healthy toppings you like (we do mushrooms, olives, fresh basil, thyme) it's delicious! and NO OIL!!! Good luck!

You can even try whole wheat crust! Or the famous "cauliflower crust" pizza the lo-carbers rave about! I don't think you sound controlling at all. I think you are doing your best to have a healthy relationship - in ALL respects! If you add enough really tasty healthy foods to your bf's rotation, there won't be room for the unhealthy ones. Good luck! And I'll be thinking positive job vibes for your guy!

Just a thought,... maybe you can get him to try the rice or almond milk, if he likes the soy. I found them both to be comparable and very tasty! I hear you about the controversy on soy and we switched to rice milk when we were using that instead of dairy... and we found out that it did not make any differences in our girls allergies, so we back to "cows milk" due to cost. Great for taking things one step at a time on getting him to eat healthier! Cheerios has a whole grain "fruity cheerios" that is similar to fruit loops and my girls love it as a once in a while treat for a change from honey bunches of oats. :) There are some good whole grain cereals, just watch out for the higher sugars. :) You're doing FAB!! Good luck w/switching out off the pizza tonight! :)

thanks everyone! we had salmon and whole grain noodles last night with veggies. (Chuck didn't eat many veggies, but Rome wasn't built in a day. :) We have made whole wheat boboli pizza before, and I appreciate the reminder, guys-- we need to do that again! Bully, I don't like the rice or almond milk as much, but maybe my bf will. thanks again for the tips and support everyone!
