It has been a hard few weeks since I last tried eating well and exercising. But I now have to sort myself out and go for it. I really really don't want to be an overweight mother to my baby girl :(

Thank you both for your comments of support. So hard to diet when breastfeeding!

I know you already know this, but don't forget breastfeeding means you need more calories to keep your body running

KJblue86 hello. Can I ask you how old is your baby? I'm breastfeeding to and I'm on "diet" just from a couple of weeks. Nobody helps me in this and I do even know if I'm doing right. My baby has 8 months and I m also giving him some solid food even if he always prefer to be breastfeed. I'm taking daily 1500 Kalories and I don't know if I'm doing right because I know breastfeeding takes about 500 so they usually have to count more. But don't be afraid with yourself, I m doing this just now. My body never can do this before. You will understand by yourself when will be the moment for you to get on diet.

During pregnancy I took 45 lb, and I've start dieting when I lost 33 without dieting. But it took 8 months. However take your time because everybody is different. Good luck 🤞

I would definitely ask the advice of your expert healthcare providers, a GP ideally. They can advise you on how you actually are. Being deficient in minerals and vitamins in early life can harm a baby for life. Good luck. There's a chat bot for further advice in this nhs article, maybe they can answer your question. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/breastfeeding-diet/ Good luck!

Thank you for the article from the NHS - very useful! My bubba is just 3 months old - I should clarify, I don't want to diet significantly, just get back to my healthy eating ways. Always make sure I hit 2000 cals a day as I know I need more to feed her, just it's the wrong kind of 2000 as I don't think Snickers bars fall into a food group! 😂 Found a great article on how to motivate for weight loss and am going for it from Monday, exhaustion and sleep deprived or not!

Best piece of advice I ever heard: Don't buy sweets/unhealthy foods - rather when you're in the store, buy an apple or some other fruit/veg anytime you think about also buying something sweet. End result: if you have munchies, you'll go & eat whatever it's in your fridge since it's easier to do that than go buy some. Proof: whenever I'm at my parents' I'm always almost hitting the upper limit for my daily calories because they always have something sweet in reach 😅😅
