heidij123's Journal, 31 Jan 17

I think I am going to stop logging food and exercise from tomorrow, and also stop doing Monday weigh-ins. I will record weight when I feel a need to, and I will return to logging if I feel I need to. I'll still journal sometimes, and will definitely be reading your journals, and continuing with the FS challenges that I'm currently doing. This is going to be interesting, and fun 😀

You're obviously happy with the way you are and confident you can maintain now. That's excellent and what we're all striving for 🙂

You are in such a great place, heidi! So proud of you ... and envy you too. Hugs!

I think I might as well just go for it and see what happens. I can always start logging again if I need to. I think you folks have more confidence in me then I have in myself, though, so thanks for that, and for your support generally, as ever 😘😘😘

Ahh... its just like ballroom dancing I suppose (I don't know as I've never....) anyway at first it is all with the 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 1 2 3 and the left forward right step etc or whatever it should be and then.. (after at least 100 un-necessary words :-) ) .. then.. there's you gliding about the dance floor completely one with the dance, no need to count or utter directions to yourself..

I urge you to continue to do what has been working well for you. It's so easy fall into old eating habits. I suggest you log food and weight and make the journal optional...

Good luck Heidi. It is what I do now and find I only need to track my meals to check nutritional intake after a period like Christmas more to reassure myself. I think you should take a break or you can get too obsessive about your food. You know after a while what works for you and if you keep to your regular foods and portions you should be fine. I will log new foods to keep a check on the nutritive value for my diabetes control, but otherwise I am confident in myself to go for long periods without tracking my meals, and I am sure you will be able to do this successfully too. Good luck hun x

no no no Heidi, do not continue to do what has been working well for you because it has already worked (probably) - or we'd all still have stabilisers on our bikes, be drinking from sippy cups, and painting by numbers - some things are just a training method - and you're fully trained (probably) - its time to find out. And if you're not you'll notice soon enough and you're an expert dieter now too, so stop doing what you've been doing and start having fun and advenures.

Sounds ok to me. Nothing wrong with experimenting.

You've been doing this a while and you've developed some strategies. Looks to me like you're going to make a success of this. Thanks for staying in touch with us all. You've been an inspiration.

John, don't worry, I won't go back to old habits, I'm far too happy being the 'new me'. The stabilisers do have to come off, although I will be sticking mainly to the foods I now regularly eat, so not going too far off-piste! I am also happy that I've kicked the nightly alcohol habit, as that is saving me a ton of calories every week 😀 I won't risk restarting that, as it's something I could easily so back into, and I'm quite happy to do only on social occasions now. I can't put on much weight anyway, as I've got rid of all my old clothes, and there is no way I'm going to buy bigger ones ever again. Basically I will weigh every day, and if I gain more than a couple of real pounds (and I will know if it's only water), I'll cut down on food till I lose it again. If I get stuck, I'll start logging again, as I know that logging works for me. Deborah, I will keep a check on new foods, you're quite right. Thanks all for your support again. And Snoop, I am honoured and delighted to be an inspiration 😀 Now I can't let you down, can I? So, my approach for the future will be a balanced diet, and portion control, which is what I've been learning for the last 18 months, and particularly over the last four months. I'm taking the stabilisers off now, deflating the water wings, and looking left and right before I cross the road 😀
