What I'm finding with trying to achieve a very slow loss is, that the daily fluctuations are considerably more than the loss I'm trying to achieve, and I think it would take two or three months to be sure that I was seeing a difference. In fact I think I may be just maintaining. So I have cut my RDI for 'normal' days down again by 100 calories, and will see how that goes. It's now set to 1300 for normal days, and that gives me some spare calories in the bank for eating out days.

That does mean that treats will have to be very limited, but that's okay, I've done some of that now, and have found that I'm not that fussed! What has been nice is experimenting with some different foods, and some of them have turned out not to be particularly detrimental, so they can stay 😀 I'm hoping that from next week I will start seeing a bit of a downward trend developing.

Sounds like you have a good plan. And adjusting it in response to results sounds like a sensible idea. I'm sure it'll work. Best wishes.

I hope that for you as well! I'd found it was the same prior to what I'm doing now (maintenance but with the smallest "buffer" of deficit + history of crazy water retention swings) - that any fat loss I do get is VERY easily masked, and I just trust the numbers, trust the way things fit, trust how things look, etc. That last drop to 59.9 was SUPER sudden and after nearly 2 months of waffling! I've taken to not even weighing more than once a month now, since I'm mostly trying to maintain but with the smallest of deficits "just in case" - even so, I am really due at least a bit of a drop by this point, and we'll see. For sure if it's at all disheartening (and for me it was, but..well I just kept at it), a bit more deficit is worth it if it forces a steadier result! Keep going! :)

Good for you for changing things around. Can't wait to see how you progress from here.

RGG, glad to hear things are going well weight-wise. I really learned a lot from you, especially in these last stages. I don't quite trust the numbers, that's why I've made this adjustment. I don't weigh everything, and I have to guesstimate a bit, so there's plenty of room for error. So I thought I'd set my RDI a bit lower. This way I will hopefully see a tangible result over the next three weeks. Then we'll be away for five days, and I won't really be counting, but at least when we get back, I'll know what I should be aiming for. And yep, I do think it's worth a lower RDI to see some kind of result! Well done to you for only weighing once a month. I guess you pick your weigh-day carefully 😉 Having seen the crazy fluctuations lately, I know I would!

Maintaining its the hardest part and requires a lot of planning. In the past it was my downfall. Well done on being where you are now 🌟

@Heidi, I definitely do - I actually feel it when I wake up - it's a visual difference. Annoying to wake up so many mornings and just know that "err..nope, not today". :) You are doing all the right things, you are so close! Hopefully your body won't try your patience too much!

It makes sense to make adjustments based on historical data. That's whats so cool about logging everything here on Fatsecret. I think you are smart...
