heidij123's Journal, 27 Dec 16

Back home now. We had a really nice couple of days 😀 There was far too much temptation food-wise, so I just gave in and ate! And I'm glad I did, it was nice! It was lovely to spend Christmas in a very Spanish environment, especially Christmas Eve. The hotel was beautifully decorated, and I wish I had taken more photos. We did a nice walk on Christmas Day and walked up to the castle yesterday. We've visited the castle many times before, but I never get bored with it because the views are so stupendous from the top, and also there's so much history there, from pre-Roman, through the medieval Moorish times, and up to the 18th century.

The only slight downer was that our room was up two flights of stairs, and no lift in that part of the hotel, so my knees suffered a bit, however I know that when I was overweight I would have really struggled with that, so even that had a positive side.

Weight is up, of course. The scales are telling me I've gained 2.5 pounds, but obviously most of that is going to be water, so I'm not logging it. I can still fit into my size 12 clothes comfortably 😀 I've been thinking again about how to proceed with weight and logging, and my conclusions are:

1) I'd still like to get properly below 10 stones, i.e. 139lbs. I might try and achieve that reasonably quickly, however in practical terms, there is no real urgency to it.

2) I want to move to a really slow weight loss for the next few months. I still have the idea in my head that I should go a little bit lower, maybe to 135lbs, but definitely don't want to need smaller clothes again too soon.

3) And most importantly, I want to learn to maintain in a reasonable way.

So I am going to switch to eating just below maintenance calories, on average - some days will be more and some days less. I'll also log weight less frequently, and I may not even weigh every day 😱 I just need to learn what sensible eating is now, and how to incorporate some extras into my diet without going overboard. I think I can do this 😎

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that you're feeling good today! (You can take that whatever way you like!)

I'm glad you had a lovely time away. It sounds like a wonderful way to spend Christmas. Have you tried glucosamine sulphate for your knees? It does wonders for mine. I think your plans for going forward in 2017 are spot on and I don't think you'll have any problems reaching 135 and maintaining it. You've got this!

Glad you had a nice break Heidi. Your plans for the new year ahead are very good and i am sure you will do it. It Must feel good to be talking about maintaining. As for gaining a little now, as you say it's just water weight, so you will soon lose it again.

Glad you had a great holiday. It is just a case of getting back in the saddle come the New Year.

I've tried glucosamine in the past, and it didn't help. Knees are not usually troublesome nowadays, though I do avoid things that aggravate them usually 😀

Your holiday sounds wonderful. I like your plan for 2017. I know maintaining weight is the trickiest part of losing weight and keeping it off. You will be a trail blazer here for us it will be interesting to see how you do it . 🌟. I am certain you will .

Lovely trip for you Heidi! My joints only hurt once I start eating grains again. Of course, getting older has a lot to do with that, too, for me. Ha Ha! Love your new plan! Try it out and see how you do.
