JockoT's Journal, 03 Apr 16

Weighed myself this morning and I recorded 14 st 12 lbs, the first time I have been 14 something in about 25 years. Yesterday I had consumed 2 litres of my 2.5 litres of water, by lunch time, and the final half litre late afternoon. Friday I had most of my 2.5 litres in the evening. Perhaps drinking it early allows me to lose it before the morning weigh in, whereby drinking it later doesn't. After all, 2.5 litres of water weighs about 5 lbs.

I think your supposed to spread it throughout the day. Drinking it in the evening will just make you get up and pee, surely?

Heidi. It isn't a plan. Just an observation of what happened yesterday and the weight change. I try and drink throughout the day, and the more water I drink, the more water I want to drink. A month ago I only drank water to take my meds! With my gender, age and water tablets I am up twice through the night anyway!! Enjoy your Sunday, Suzy.

It's a good observation and reminder to all that it doesn't take much water at all (whether ingested, or retained) to make a big weight difference! If anyone is curious about it, simply take a kitchen scale, and see for yourself how little it takes for water to equal .3 kilos, .5, 1 kilo, etc. You can also observe this if you weigh before and after a workout (especially if you've ingested carbs, because the loss of the glycogen and associated water storage can account for more). Those small "body blips" that people sometimes experience are as simple as that tiny glass of water! Nothing you don't know, but saying it for people who might read this thread and benefit from the reassurance that water actually CAN make a huge difference.

One morning at work, I weighed what I brought in to drink. Weighed over 2 lbs.

I always remembered from school, a gallon of water weighs 10 lbs.

Well done! I've just broken a stone barrier ... you're well ahead of me though. I remember (don't know where from) that a (UK) pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter. A litre of water weighs a kilogram ... easier to remember, but I'm old enough to work in imperial (mostly).

It is a brilliant feeling. My wife never knew me when I wasn't fat.
