chesgreen's Journal, 12 Mar 16

Happy weekend FS family. My very 1st day of the riding season, I hit a patch of sand in a corner and I got thrown off my motorcycle into the street and slid into the curb.

in a lot of pain, ribs and inner thigh. I am being stubborn and not going to the hospital yet. This took place yesterday. With the bruised and or cracked ribs, very painful getting in and out of the bed, car, shower, couch, everything.

I will not try and eat away this pain. I will make you guys proud this week on my weekly weigh in. Pray for me as I recover.

-Ches

The bike's ok, lol. It really hurts to laugh. I am not struggling to breathe and can take a dull breath. I will see if things worsen tomorrow and will head to urgent care for xrays if necessary. I stopped at the store to get supplies and my wife wrapped both my chest and inner thigh well. I had to use an oxy I have left over from a surgery I had back in January. If the saying pain is weakness leaving your body, then this means after I recover, I will be really really strong in a few weeks.

you are just as stubborn as when my father in law did the same thing on his way home from our house.... if you have bad bruises you need to go in ... and if you press around your abdomen and it's feeling firmer than usual... go right away.

Yes, Chesgreen you may need xrays because ribs are real close to your lungs. My dad was in a car accident & bruised his ribs and needed those pain meds. Good luck!

Thank you everyone for your concern, I feel guilty about going there with alcohol on my breath. I had a few glasses of wine with dinner.

I imagine they're familiar with the risk profile of sober riders too. Just piling on here. Don't make your dear wife take you in the middle of the night when she is, by that point, scared to death. Do it for her during normal waking hours, so she can go to sleep with peace of mind too.

Here's hoping it's just as minor as you believe, and that you heal up quickly.

Oh goodness Ches! Hope you're feeling better soon! There's not much that can be done for ribs- hospital or not. Not sure what the mojo is with oxtail soup, but apparently there is some substance in it that makes for speedy healing and pain relief. You boil it with ginseng and ginger and I don't know what else, then slurp down the broth. Call me loony, but that's what the Chinese chef said at the restaurant tonight. Otherwise, pop a couple benadryl, and sleep peacefully, my friend. Prayers going out to you for a fast recovery!
