Monday mornings intensify my concerns about maintaining my weight. My sister is visiting from out of town. My wife prepared her favorite foods taught to her by my mother. My sister doesn't remember the recipes herself so it's a treat for her. These foods are also favorites of mine too. It's special time we spend together but murder on my diet.

The problem is that whenever I don't strictly follow my diet and exercise routine I tend to gain weight rapidly. I think that the transition from weight loss to maintenance mode will be just as challenging as loosing the weight...

You can gain 3,4 lbs overnight because you ate too much salt and carbs, that's what you see on the scale then. Also you will feel bloated and guilty. If you can keep it at a cheat meal and not a cheat day you should be fine. Water weight goes quickly, as soon as you start eating healthy again.

Hang in there. I understand. I agree - a cheat meal if necessary rather than a cheat day. Also consider enjoying it all with small portions. All the best.
