Hi everyone! I have a four day weekend but am passing up on parties to get things done around the house. There is still much to do and we are finally going to have kitchen countertops again tomorrow. I miss my friends but I am glad to be making progress, including installing another shelf.

I am increasing bicycling to accommodate reduced running due to the heat.

I had my annual physical recently and got my labs back. My LDL cholesterol is a few points too high and my alkaline phosphatase is strangely low. I am waiting to hear from the doctor but the most likely suspect is magnesium deficiency. So more healthy magnesium plant based foods and less animal foods (not that I eat much of those anyway).

I am experimenting with a couple other food logging apps, my fitness pal and SHYE (see how you eat). these are bringing a fresh mindful perspective to my eating.

In life news, new chihuahua Mochi is sometimes a bit aggressive and we need to keep her separated until she is better trained. Training starts next weekend. Also I got a permanent job at my company (my current job is only temporary).

Cindy, have you looked at cronometer.com? It is a great site for tracking all the vitamins and minerals. Not as easy to log and fun as FS but may be helpful for you.

Wonderful news about the permanent job!👏🏼. And regarding the LDL: it’s not just reducing the meat, it’s reducing the cheese. Sadly the yummy dairy is almost entirely saturated fat 😢. Switching to nutritional yeast replaced my beloved Parmesan. And the rest of it I just bid adieu.

Thank you JB! Yea I have read cheese is the primary culprit. I only eat occasional cheese and meat even more rarely these days. I have been eating tuna and yogurt though. Maybe it’s the yogurt. I will cut back on both.

Thank you Shirley and yes! I do already have benefits but the grant for my program will probably end this year so it’s great to lock in a salary and benefits for longer
