Christmas Eve Dinner (wouldn't all show in the picture). Far left (not shown) Chicken Salad on dinner rolls, (cut off) Chicken Rolls, (Crock pot) Sausage Balls, Devilled Eggs, Pimiento Cheese Spread, Spinach Dip, Shrimp & Crabmeat Salad, Potato Chips, Ranch Dip, Assorted Crackers, Chipped Beef, (desserts cut off) 7-Cup Fruit Salad, See's Fudge with Pecans, Peppermint Bark, Jackstraws, See's Fudge with No Nuts.

The Meatballs didn't make it to the party. My son blew a tire in the middle of a busy road. They had to have the car towed and got a Lyft back to their house (since they were closer to there). ALL they had to eat for their dinner was meatballs. So sad! Today, after church, we are taking them their presents and some of all the leftovers.

The Chicken Rolls I made were the biggest hit! (Brown n Serve Rolls, with the insides pinched out leaving a "shell", bread pinchings fried in a stick of butter then mixed with Chicken Soup, Chicken and Nutmeg, and stuffed back into the Roll Shells and baked.) Everybody said this was the best batch anyone had ever made (even my mother-in-law, from whom the recipe came).

My goal was to keep the day under 2,000 calories, which I did at 1,999! If I only eat what I have planned for today (1,664 calories), I will finish the week with an average daily calories of exactly 1,750 (my goal for the week - well, actually I had upped it to 1,800, but I think I can make the 1,750).

I gave away as much food as I could force on people! All the nutless fudge is gone, Jackstraws gone, Peppermint bark gone, Ranch Dip gone, potato chips gone, most of the crackers gone. We still have a couple of chicken sandwiches, a few Chicken Rolls, a handful of Sausage Balls, quite a bit of Spinach Dip and Fruit Salad, and a LOT of Shrimp & Crabmeat Salad.

My son said something very funny yesterday! As they were being driven home in the Lyft, he said to his wife, "See what I get for marrying a Jewish Girl!" She asked what that had to do with anything. He said, "All the CHRISTIANS made it to the party!" That gave us all a good belly laugh!

Goodbye week of indulgences! It's been fun, but I'm going back to the straight and narrow on Monday. I think I'll set my average daily calories for 1,500 for next week.

Hope you all had a good Christmas Eve and that a good Christmas Day awaits you!

Merry Christmas!

Beautiful layout. You absolutely amaze me that you can be around so much sweet and rich food and limit yourself. We eat so much more simply and I've still been binging and gaining since our daughter died. I've made a few false starts for a couple of days, but then I go back. One of these days I'll buckle down. I went to one neighbor to ask to take a shower yesterday but when he wasn't available I didn't feel comfortable enough with the other two. I just used wet wipes like a sponge bath which I'm used to since my husband said a few years ago I use too much water. I think he got the water heater lines to stop leaking now. But when I came home from the luncheon he had flooded the garage again with the emergency line he didn't plug properly. I had warned him but it didn't help. There is so much canned food and a myriad of other things still on the floor, I'll just keep plugging away cleaning. It's the bending over and picking up things that is so hard on my back. I'm not even upset over the house heater because the weather is so mild, just a jacket is comfortable. So many are suffering in the cold. I'm so grateful we have the money to fix it. Realizing now it is 30 years old I'm wondering if we should be getting a new one instead? Most new things out of China are so inferior today. Merry Christmas. I wish everyone realized we celebrate because a "Savior" was born.
