Fitbits or garmin ? And which model and why? My cheap amazfit is great at first but they crap out every six months. My replacement I got six months ago is starting to malfunction. I’ve tried Apple Watch and wasn’t impressed. I don’t use the smartwatch features (after a bad experience with my apple watching sending me lengthy upsetting texts from someone blocked on my phone). I just want a fitness tracker that will last, has gps to track my workouts and pace and steps, has a long battery life (ie weekly charging, no daily charging like the Apple Watch), and is reasonably attractive. Features like mindfulness, weather, alarms are all great. any recommendations would be helpful! Thanks and have a great day.

Me too. Somewhat electronically challenged when it comes to comparison shopping! Will be watching too! Thanks for the question!

I like my Fitbit Sense. it has heart rate monitor and other features I like, has a bunch of stuff I don't use but may interest you. you could call the customer service number and talk to someone to figure out what would work for you. Good luck.

Hi! I always recommend WHOOP. Far more accurate than anything else on the market.

Garmin instinct is pretty legit. It’s kind of like having an old Nokia phone after having an iPhone. If that makes sense. It simple, but yet a powerhouse.

I love my garmins had an instinct for a year than did a major upgrade to the fenix 6pro sapphire that I've had for a year now as well. Y The fenix is way more than you need but I love having GPS topo maps right on the watch that I can reference while hiking or mountain biking. All the gaming are great for fitness tracking and the garmin connect interface has so much health data at your fingertips.

I really am starting to believe my phone is listening in on my conversations and possibly reading my mind. I was just talking and thinking about doing research on this. Following.

Ooh lots of good recommendations to look into. Thanks everyone! I’m excited about the options. Wifey I normally swear by apple but not the watches 🙂

I've had my fitbit charge 2 for six years and it still works perfectly! Pretty straight forward tracks steps, exercise, resting heart rate, calories burned, food (I don't use that) water, sleep and pounds lost. New, they come with a free 6 month premium that adds a little more detail. I enjoyed the premium but not enough to pay for it. I'm happy with the free stuff. Anyway, I really like fitbit and the phone app is easy. I'm going to upgrade to a charge 5 soon, it has a colored screen and I can use it in the pool. You can still buy the charge 2 on amazon for about $85 and the charge 5 is on sale for $149. I'm a fan!

you'll probably get a different answer from everyone. personally I use a Fitbit. I've also heard the Garmin's are great. my friend has a Samsung. check eBay for refurbs they're cheaper and if you don't like it you can try something else. I'm currently using a blaze which is super old but it cost me $50. info have to charge every other day though cuz the battery is old. used to be once a week.

I went from garmin to fitbit.... and back to garmin again. no regrets going back to garmin. I went with the vivoactive. I had a charge model on the fitbit. they kept breaking. I went through 3 of them. there's a couple things fitbit really does well, but for accuracy, capability and reliability I would recommend garmin. if you are into training of any sort, garmin is going to do you better. if you just kind of walk and want general fitness ideas, the fitbit will still be good but I don't trust them to last.

Garmin Instinct

Thanks so much everyone for the input! I’m leaning garmin, though not sure if I want an instinct or a forerunner.

I love discussions about tech! It's so interesting to hear everyone's preferences. I have a Fitbit Versa 3 which I love. I actually had a Fitbit Charge 2 for years, but I despaired when it got wet & basically died, & I hated the new Charge models (numbers too small!). I bought a new Samsung phone & got the Samsung Galaxy too. It was so beautiful I loved it, but it shocked me repeatedly! I looked at reviews & it was a common problem! My arm went numb & I said enuf & returned it. I briefly looked at Garmin but everyone who had them said they're for serious runners or athletes. I'm so not that & it had way more features than I'd ever use. So, I'm happy with my Fitbit Versa3, & I don't have any features I don't need to pay for. Also, it's just the right size & weight for my wrist. Easy changing wristbands & blingy bezels. Syncs with my phone easily & the program is simple. I charge it every other day, but I also use it a lot. Good luck & let us know what you choose!

Thanks Hazel! I can’t believe you got shocked! 😨

I know, right? It was "shocking" to me too! Haha 🤣 I don't know how they can make a watch that does that. I think the notifications, vibrations etc were too strong, maybe? But, it's all good since I'm happy with my Fitbit. But I think you're on the right track between Fitbit & Garmin. 😊🙂

That's actually a great feature. Mine vibrates when I haven't hit my 200 steps an hour. Yours shocks you.... Get it moving or you get it again. 😂😂

HeBrewZ LMAO! My Fitbit is set to 250 steps/hour. When I'm tired I sometimes ignore it, but when I'm out & moving, I get all 8 hours it's says "BOOM"! Lol I ❤️ it when I make my steps! 😁💪🏼

I had to turn mine off. Sitting in staff meetings and such for an hour but I hit my 12k every work day. Weekends are different.
