Woke at 224.9, down .2 from yesterday. Fasting-mimicking begins in earnest today. I won't get five straight days in but definitely do Tuesday-Friday (until dinner Friday). UPDATE: Weighed 225.0 before lunch and 225.0 before dinner, which was a large chopped salad.

D…..what’s is fasting mimicking? I practice IF 18:6

Hi YG! The bottom line is 1100 cal of nuts and vegetables the first day followed by four days of nuts and vegetables at 800 cal a day. It mimics the effects of fasting to generate autophagy. Here’s more. https://theceliacmd.com/fasting-mimicking-diet-what-is-it-does-it-work/

Sure! What you just saw was yesterday (but an anomaly). Today, I ate five cups or broccoli at lunchtime (didn't take a photo). Tonight I ate a huge salad (pictured elsewhere). I also drank some red wine at an online happy hour.

Online happy hour. How does that work? Happy hour to me means discounted select drinks & $1 raw bar, most awesome buffalo hot wings on the planet for $5 a plate. Giant plate of nachos for sharing (4) so good it would make a grown man cry. See how I got into so much trouble.

I'm going to give your method a go. I'm almost ready to do fasting. Were you cranky when you first started this process?

Hi, ACBelle. I've been hosting an online happy hour for federal IT folks (government and contractor) since March 2020. It was a way for us to get together during COVID. We have to buy our own drinks though! 😀 It has had upwards of 45 people on it at the beginning but now down to about 5-8 consistently. The FMD is a good way to start because you can eat a lot of vegetables within the calorie targets and it's only for a week. I'm interested to see how it goes for you.

Yes, me too. I have to set my date. Thinking early Nov. Checking my calendar.

Online happy hour sounds like it can be fun if you don't mind being on video & some real time lags. Did you hear about the guy who got in trouble for a zoom mtg. He forgot to put on pants. 🤭

Agreed! We do have a great time. I personally do the FMD one week a month (on the third week) which helps me do a nice reset. I am amazed at how effective it is.

What convinced me about FMD is not the weight loss, but the reset aspect. Makes total sense as we are built for feast or famine. I've been feasting w/o the fasting. P.S. I'm Endomorph, genetically designed to survive famines. Which means, I have to be super diligent. Thanks for walking me through this. Date set. Nov 1st. The previous month of cleaner eating will help this time around.
