Today is my final post from our trip to Germany and beyond. We arrived home last night and, with jet lag, morning has come very soon. I have posted a lot of pictures over this last month, as a record of what I was able to do because of not carrying a miserable obese body around on two tired feet. Because of FS, this is my "after!"

Our last day was spent in Heidelberg with our 18 year old son and German "daughters." We saved this beautiful place for last, and had a perfect day enjoying a little over 26,000 steps. We walked up to the castle and then around the old town for a long time. We also hiked to the amphitheater across the river and up the hill. It was a pretty steep, winding, easy to get lost, trek up from the river! I jogged up the actual amphitheater steps to the top... Twice! The kids were too tired! It is 200 meters from the podium area to the top steps! I am so grateful for the fitness I have acquired over the last couple years here on FS! The encouragement from you all and from my wonderful husband to get fit and stay there has helped me endlessly!

I have been without any scales (bathroom and kitchen) for a month, and I have had mountains of delightful food! For a couple weeks, I really felt like I was managing pretty well and holding my own. I could have been self deceived, but my pants were still feeling good, which was what I was using as my measure of "progress." Although not exactly tight now, I can tell the calories have really caught up with me. Some significant extra padding is clearly visible, and my unforgiving, full length mirror in my home shows I am not where I should be. I will be working on reduction over the next while... might be quite a long while. I don't even want to step on a scale for a few days. It will show water weight is high. I got pretty dehydrated the last couple days and had a lot of sodium. Then there was the long flight home...I feel so swollen!

Anyway, I'm back to my job right away and I have a ton to do over the next days. Reality...

Thank you for all of your support! Now back to the gym, long walks, and logging both my weight and food daily. I'll get there!

Sound like your family had a really great month long vacation in Europe. "The kids were too tired!" put things into perspective. Great job on your part, and your awesome supporter(s).

Such an inspiring story, thank you so much for sharing it with us. Coming back from Europe, people tend to feel sleepy early in the evening and wake up early in the morning, which I find is perfect to get back to work after some vacations.

Love2, as one who has helped me keep pushing, I have you to thank! Just maybe I'll get to run again, and if not, I'll keep walking and hiking in the beautiful NW we share! 😁 Thank you, Erika! It has been such a privilege to pause from our adventures to share them. Your support has meant so much! ♥️

Thank you, dear Kat! Goodness, you have been such a help to me for so long. You know the rough stuff we've gone through and the uncertainty we faced about even going. Everything went so well, and coming home... My kids are all doing well here too!!! I am so happy for that!!!!

Thank you, Tim! And I hope you are feeling less battered. I know your bike is awaiting, but it will take a while to be ready for it. I've been praying for you. Our German friends were too. 😊 ❤️

Diana, I am so terribly sorry you have been struggling. How very frustrating and scary on so many levels. Just get better... Take care of you. I hope you can find some solutions and your heart will be healthy enough for your trip. I thought of you so many times... And especially while we were on the ferry crossing the Rhine. It is waiting for you!

Eral66, I have really enjoyed your comments and words of knowledge about so many places we went! Thank you! Yes, I was dead tired last night and woke up at 2. I got a tiny little snooze at around 6 for about an hour... Then coffee. Hope it will keep me going for the day! 😁 This is my... 6th time coming home from Europe... I hate adjusting, but it is easier for sure to keep busy!

Erquiaga!!! We did it! Man I remember wimpering to you two years ago about my sorrow not getting to go... And then all the stress this year and leading up to this trip... On so many levels. It wasn't all we dreamed of, and in some ways it was more! We got to be with our friends so much and enjoy a real vacation away from life at home. It was wonderful! And, we actually probably spent less three than we would at home! We had only three nights we paid for airbnb. Otherwise we were with our various friends, who are like family. I feel so blessed! Thank you for all your support! ❤️
