No need to feel bad about admiring someone like Colonel Tom if he gives strength and hope. These days the word 'inspiring' is used too often and too glibly to mean much but as you say, with such a humble man as an example there is hope for our country. Let's just hope that younger people than us learn from his attitude and approach to adversity. we've had a couple of patients getting stroppy this week and I am trying to put it down to 'stress', but we are 'all in the same boat' and we should be supporting each other - a smile costs nothing but can change another person's mood. I always try to smile and thank the people in shops and I invariably get a smile back because they don't always get that consideration as we get fed up queuing to get in and become frustrated with other people not moving through the store quickly enough. We all need to step back; take a deep breath and be thankful that we are not suffering in hospital. Heard this morning that our main supplier at work has got a confirmed case and all the staff are getting tested and they are scared stiff. When it gets 'close' like that it brings it home just how bad the situation can get. So to those moaning about not being able to get to the pub for a pint (not you Chestnut) or to go lying on the beach when we get sun; or walking in their favourite places - just think for a few minutes about those lying in hospital beds struggling to survive, and waiting to see if they will be a 'number' mentioned in the daily No 10 Briefing. We are mostly lucky - so don't let's blow it all. *climbs down off soapbox*. To everyone - stay well, stay home and stay safe.
