Just realised that the protein shake I have bought is a milk protein and I have lactose intolerance/acid reflux no wonder I felt bloated lol I guess I'll be switching to a soya based one and I'm shocked at the sugar and carbs in skimmed milk, 5g of both per 100ml and 1 cup is 200+ml, I got a sugar high and felt really sleepy even though I've cut out dairy from my diet but felt tempted to taste it with that shake as with water it tastes rather bland.

Flowerbunny yes milk is full of carbs and calories although the calcium is supposed to be good for your teeth! The only way high is drinking too much Stella, very bad of me. You are doing well keep at it.The icon of an ice cream co e is a bit ironic?

I use a vegan protein shake that contains all the essential amino acids and tend to mix it woth rice milk for the extra carbs as it helps with weight gain. If your trying to lose weight I would recommend using soy milk or any of the other plant milks, best to avoid rice and oat though if weight loss is your goal. I'm assuming your protein shake is whey? It's actually one of the worst forms we can put in our body, however milk generally is terrible for our health. Studies have proven that the countries that have the highest dairy intake actually have to highest rates of osteoporosis, and we're told that milk is supposed to be good for strong bones 🙄

Yes kittlebean my protein shake was a Whey in Belgian Chocolate flavour, I'm going to switch to the berries one which is soya based by slimming world, slowly learning lol

Flowerbunny2. Yea there are so many different plant milks out there, just work your way through them and see which one you like the best! I find different ones work better for different things.
