Today is Day One of my latest attempt at the 21-day fix. After my last rant concerning the weight loss/frustration/regain cycle, I'm happy to report that my weight is about where it was the last time I tried something new. Anyway, I have literally planned out every single bite for the next 6 days, & will attempt to record all of that as I go, along with the exercise of course. That's a big part of the 21-Day Fix, about 30 minutes of alternating circuit workouts every day. The past weekend hubby & I went on 3 mile walks in a local mall. It was good to see him get up and do something. He's also been walking the dogs lately. Well it's pretty much springtime in OKC so yes, outdoor walking can happen. I think some walking to go along with the circuits will be good, maybe not 3 miles but maybe about 20-30 minutes outdoors.

Anyway, I've done the 21-Day Fix before & had some success with it, but I don't think I lasted 21 days, LOL! So this time, the goal is to stick it out for the entire 21 days, not bail because I slipped up on the dieting part, etc. That's bound to happen, especially with my birthday coming up next week (the Beatles birthday, "When I'm 64"😂). Of course I want weight loss to happen, but instead of sayins "I want to lose 10 lbs" I'm changing the conversation to "I want to complete the program." And THEN I'll re-evaluate & see how things went. I'll come back & post the workouts in the evening. Have a great week, everyone!!!

So here's what happens:

1 I get on a new plan with a new committment;
2 I lose a few pounds;
3 After a week the weight loss stops;
4 I get aggravated & go on a binge;
5 I gain back the weight & maybe 1 or 2 more lbs;
6 I feel lousy for failing, stop overeating & end up back where I started.

And it's happened again. Still hovering around 158 lbs, and I have another weight loss plan arriving today. Actually, it's an older one that I've done before with some moderate success, the 21-Day Fix. I lost some of the measuring cups so I had to order some more, plus a cookbook AND exercise DVDs. None of this will help if I can't stick with the plan for the full 21 days, though, so that will be the goal this time. And some modest weight loss of course. Crazy that I keep doing this to myself. Interestingly enough, the sermon at Church last Sunday asked us if we were REALLY ready to quit whatever vice we have, and the example used was weight loss. Our Minister talked about a diet counselor friend who talked about the five stages of cheating:

1 The Idea to cheat (usually seeing or thinking about something yummy)
2 The Desire to cheat, which builds from #1
3 The Decision to cheat
4 The Preparation (going out for the ice cream, burger, whatever), and
5 The Actual Cheating

The diet counselor said people could interrupt this train of thought at any stage before #5, and offered suggestions on how to do so. The usual stuff, drink water, go for a walk, call a support buddy, etc. I need to come up with a few, I've had good luck in the past with buying a new outfit I want, LOL! What does anyone else do to distract themselves?

Well I finally got some legitimate exercise today, 30 minutes on the treadclimber. Plan to do some weights this afternoon before work. I'm surprisingly unmotivated to exercise, possibly because the weight loss stalled out so badly last week. I know, I just need to be patient, give it a few more weeks and THEN make some adjustments. At least I'm still tracking and staying (mostly) within the calorie budget. Today is tricky, I tried a new homemade mac & cheese recipe. Supposedly higher in protein & lower in carbs. Supposedly 370 cals without the extra bacon & chicken that could be added, hmmm. I picked the one that came up because the calorie count most closely matches. Sometimes you just gotta guestimate these things. Anyway, this new recipe is okay but there are a couple other mac & cheese recipes that I like better, though one is REALLY high in calories. Maybe I'll plug one of them into the FS cookbook later, for a more accurate calorie count. Have a nice day, everyone!
