Intermittent Fasting ... Yes or no? I have been having breakfast, as if breakfast is one of the 10 commandments of the Bible, now I wonder what if I start to eliminate my breakfast???and consuming 1500 calories a day, 20% protein, 30% healthy fats and 50% carbohydrates works for me, last year I counted calories the first 6 months, later I continued eating healthy but without using the app and I kept my weight, but the last three months of last year I started eating everything and started to gain weight and lose muscles, I gained 16 pounds in total: | This year I am back on track, I exercise, I eat my healthy food as possible but I do not want to be counting calories daily, so I have not lost weight but I can see a big difference in my body, I have muscles again. I would like to try IF, I hope that does not make my metabolism slower, I already know that eating less than 1200 calories what it does is mess up with my metabolism so if I start IF I will have to use the app to count the calories. I would like to know if anyone here has some advice to me. KEILIN 😊

If you choose to do it, that’s up to you, there’s no harm in it. Just be sure that you’re not feeling overly fatigued or hungry/tired.

And also if you’re in a deficit metabolism doesn’t really matter too much since weight loss will happen regardless, as long as a deficit of calories is present.

I do it, and it works for me. I eat between 12:00 and 8:00. That being said, I never really ate breakfast- except over the last year. Since adopting this new life style, I have more energy and less cravings . Hope this helps

More than my stomach I have to train my mind, because of the fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I have recorded it in my mind , but I have read lately about Intermittent Fasting, so I want try it

My doctor recommended Keto IF to me. But I was told to eat 1200 cal per day with no more than 40 g of carbs. I never used to eat breakfast but he told me he would rather me eat breakfast and skip dinner. But what I am doing is eating breakfast and dinner ; skipping lunch. So mine is basically a fast from 7 AM to 6 PM. Course I guess if you think about it , it is also a fast from 6 PM to 7 AM Because I am going almost 11 hours between meals. I just started this on Wednesday, March 14.

I do IF just because I have never been huge on eating breakfast. It always makes me feel sluggish or sick when I do. Every once in a while I will eat an egg or sausage, but most the time I am on a 16/8 fast. I stop eating at 7pm and dont eat again until 11am or after.

look at YouTube video Dr. Jason Fung it will give you the Science behind IF. I have been doing IF since August of 2017 and lost 20 pounds. It will make a positive difference.

Yes draglist, it is what I am thinking to do, because, normally I am doing good at breakfast and lunch, but not at dinner with my husband it's not easy , when I see his plate I change my menu most of the time haha

beckyyourman but it does not necessarily has to be keto, right? because I am picky eating and I definitely don't like the keto menus I have seen

I love carbs 😐

You should be able to lose weight just fine by counting calories. Keep your carbs under 100g a day and you should be fine. Most people dont realize that they are eating 250+g of carbs a day, but if you watch them and keep it under 100, weight should start dropping off.

I think that you should try it slowly. If you eat after supper that would be the first snack to stop. I usually eat fruit and vegetables until I no longer require a snack. I usually lose weight just from cutting it out. It has never been easy for me and requires work. The following day after getting rid of the snack or in the process you can try to eat later until you come up to 16 hours. I find that I am not that hungry in the morning when I don't eat after supper. The 16 hours becomes easy. Everyone is different. It isn't for everyone. I did IF when I was 18 years old and the term did not even exist at that time. It's always been my starting point to lose weight and it has worked for me. Try it and see if you see have enough energy! I find that I have enough energy for one hour of snowshoeing but after that I need food for other exercises. I have been counting calories somewhere else and I do find it important.

I am new to the Ketogenic diet, doing well with the normal learning curve at 1 month. Just a thought: For me, 50% carbs would not allow me to be "in ketosis" and would keep me from losing weight. Inflammation would continue, stiff all over, etc. You say it is working for you but you are not losing weight. What is your goal now? It is great to have the other changes you mention, having muscles again rocks! Dinner would be super HARD for me if someone is eating the old way next to me! Evenings 9-11 pm are a little crazy for me with intermittent cravings and "emotional hunger" sometimes, although I am NOT truly hungry. On the other hand, it feels like a privilege to cut things, like carbs, and know my body is burning fat. Best wishes to you Keilin as you sort this out.

Thanks Klynn82, Charlotte_15 . English Cordelia in Ecuador, that is a good point 😊, when I was counting calories I was losing weight. the last two months of last year I gained weight back because I was eating everything I saw ,( bad food) this year most of the time I eat healthy foods and I exercise 3 or 4 days a week, I walk 3 days a week too, but I am not counting calories ,I still can see pretty changes in my body(muscles) now I want to eliminate my extra body fat , so I am going to start counting calories again, the part I am not sure about is if I can do Intermittent Fasting with 50% of carbs? or if it still going to work? As I am reading here or Google everybody talk about IF and Keto 😕

I am sure Keto works, everybody said that, I just don't like to eat some kinds of food like bacon.

You can do IF without doing Keto, but also, keep in mind that you dont have to eat bacon and stuff you dont like if you do Keto. I do it, but I enjoy bacon. I dont eat a lot of bacon, maybe once a week, if that. Since I started keto, I have eaten more dark green veggies, more cauliflower, and things like that. But again, what works for one person, may not be right for another. Keep your carbs under 100g a day, watch your calorie intake and you should be fine. When you are working out, make sure you do cardio as well as weight training, it will help burn off the fat too. You can do it!! Its just finding whats right for you and we are all here to help!

Well, You can eat anything you want. You don’t have to do “this diet” or “that diet” or cut out “these foods” and replace them with “those foods”. There is no “best way to eat/diet” there is only, eating excess/burning lesss calories=weight gain, eating less/burning more calories=weight loss, eating calories equal to what is being burned=Weight maintained... so Keilin_4 it’s your choice how you decide to diet, what you decide to eat, how you decide to exercise & any numous combination of those things, to reach your fitness goals. Same goes for everyone else. eat happy to be happy.👍🏻

Thanks y'all, it's what I am going to do, eat what I like in the healthy way possible , not overeating is the most important I bet, so I am going to be the first one do it IF with half of carbs, well, I am going to give it a try, thanks for the advices and support , good luck !!! 😊
