DairyKing's Journal, 20 Jan 12

TGIF. 6 Degrees and clear this morning. After talking to some of you yesterday, that feels pretty darn good. Ran 3.28 miles at 3:28 this morning. 3:28 A.M., that is. :D Well, my weight has stabilized at 218 lbs. I am done binging (which BTW is to engage in excessive or uncontrolled indulgence in food or drink), which adequately describes my behavior going into, and coming out of the holidays. I think I actually got back up to 224.0 lbs. one day. In all honesty, I can say that I have only been back on the wagon for the past two days. While I remained painfully aware of what the consequences of my actions would be, and stopped short of a total relapse, I can only blame myself for not having lost any weight over the last month. On the other hand, my belt is in the last notch, and my pants are falling down. I have shifted weight around or gained some muscle, or both. I am content. I am fully expecting some weight loss over the next week, which brings me to my next point: I am going back to entering my weigh-ins daily. I tried; it just doesn't work for me to wait a week to weigh in. When I do it that way, I deceive myself that it will work out in the end, and it doesn't. I want my hand on the thermostat, and when it starts getting cool, I want to turn up the heat when its needed. I know it works great for some of you, but not for me. I am too analytical and weighing in daily makes me feel like I have more control.

Don't you find it amazing that FS lets us talk so much? You might not be all that excited about the fact that I talk so much, but it is incredible the amount of storage that the FS people are providing for free. It's amazing just how much of a load I have gotten off my chest since I joined up with FS. I don't know how much each word weighs, but since I have uploaded all these words to FS, I have lost over 36 pounds. Incredible!

LOL! You are so funny! Love reading your journals..and hush about that "FS storage for free" stuff--they'll start charging! I can totally relate with no lbs lost over the holiday, though I did control myself a LITTLE better, I only gained 6 back. But I'm well on my way to dropping it... I'm with you on the daily weigh ins--too much waiting (weighting?) and it frustrates me. Happy Friday DK!! (btw, those are my true initials... :D)

LOL your funny! I always kinda wondered why some people weighted in everyday, so thanks for giving your reasoning. And it makes sense to me, since I tend to be the same thing, so maybe it is something I should consider doing as well. Thanks King!!

Well, Zippy, I don't know if it's "misery loves company", having a place to vent, or the thrill of the chase, but FS almost makes this 'getting in shape thing' fun. I am even encouraged by the 'setbacks' of my fellow participants (because I know I'm not the only one that struggles); and I am motivated by their success stories (because if they can do it, so can I). And I love to see that ticker change colors! There's nothing really fun about the process of losing weight, when you're doing it alone, but I get a sense of adventure (like getting caught up in a novel) when I share in the experiences of all these different personalities working towards getting healthier, and looking and feeling better about themselves.

DK - thank you for your support! And I don't like to be cold...ever, so my hand is back on the thermostat as well! Much Love.

My pleasure, Paula! You're a sweetheart! I enjoy your commentary. If we had never ourselves experienced the frustration of a stuck needle on the bathroom scale, we could never be of any encouragement to others. We are conquerors, and we will prevail over the war with fat. When we lose a battle here and there, we actually strengthen our resolve to fortify our defenses and meet the next battle head-on with savage determnation. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

LOL DK.... I love seeing you talk - I was going to say 'hearing' but that's not correct - I can't "hear" you - apart from in my head .... I am grateful tha FS lets us write utter nonsense LOL.

DKing, I know exactly what you mean! I am so disappointed in myself after my last weigh in. I did great through the Holidays...up untill Dec 31st. Who would have thought that I would fall then. I went all out for New Years and didn't stop. It was my own fault. I let other things get in my way. I am back on track now and working my way backt my last weigh in weight. Then I can continue my journey. I also agree with you on this FS community. It is so helpful to our journey to talk to others about our ups and down. I was surprised to see how many things I had in common with so many others. We tend to start this journey on our own. Even though our loved ones support us many do not want to take part in it so it feels like you are alone in this way of life. FS has shown me that even though those around me aren't interested in this unique way of life there are many out there that are and are doing it with us. =) Good to know.
