JockoT's Journal, 05 Jun 16

Another reasonable night, though for some reason my wound was bleeding quite heavily and it has seriously stained the sheet and the underblanket. Mrs T is trying to get the blood out, as I write.
Sat down to Porridge and Double Cream for breakfast, but it was way more than I could manage.
Off for a shower and a shave before getting a fresh dressing applied.

That's not good that you've opened it up a bit but it's good that you slept well. Cold water soaking and patience is the best way to get blood out of things. A bit tricky if you're in an apartment with shared laundry facilities. Have a good day.

Sorry to hear about your wound. I hope it'll heal up soon. Take care.

Gave it a good hose down in the shower and I am going to leave it without a dressing until bed time. What a shape my belly is. It looks like they have filled me full of rocks and other debris. I hope it will settle out eventually, but it is not looking that way at present.

Yes, it will all even out eventually. You probably still have a lot of swelling in the tissues.

When my wound was seeping a little the nurse told me at the hospital to clean it several times a day with 1 pint of cooled boiled water mixed with 2 teaspoons of sea salt 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda stir till dissolved then using cotton wool balls a clean piece with every wipe and to be honest jocko it was very soothing and now healed lovely.....Tell your good lady that I got the blood out of my sheets with full cream milk pour some in a a large dish hold the area that is stained down with some form of weight so its submerged and leave till the stain lifts, a very old wives tale! Oh By the way that's Me..... I Hope that helps..... Things can only get better Buddy.....BFN Maggy x

You sound better Jocko, more upbeat and positive! When I am trying to remove blood stains I put some peroxide on it and let it sit for a while, it seems very effective!

My better half is a firm believer in Boiled water with added salt. She bathed it with that half an hour ago and it was most soothing. I think part of the problem is tugging the staples as I move. Hopefully, once they are removed, the bleeding will stop.

I am managing to eat enough the last few days, though not sensibly. I eat what I fancy, as against what is good for me. It tends to be high Carbs, the opposite from my preferred regime.

For the bed clothes a little cold water cover with salt leave for 30 minutes rinse repeat until stain is gone or almost then normal wash. As for your wound seriously you should see a nurse. If you can't eat there is also fortisip.

Sounds like good advice Jocko from all your buddies. So sorry you are going through all of this. I am sure once those staples are out, you will feel better, too.
