Happy Monday. I've lost 7.6 pounds since last Monday utilizing a IF/LCHF regimen. For sometime now, I have had been thinking, what if embrace Intermittent Fasting and low carb as a eating strategy? Thank you members, buddies for introducing me to LCHF. Come to find out, there was already a book about a IF/LCHF strategy written in 2015 by Cristian Vlad Zot titled Persistent Fat Loss: Combining Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting for Year-Round Fitness. I came across this book while in the middle of reading The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living, written by Jeff S Volek, PhD, RD and Stephen D. Phinney, MD, PhD. (Recommended to the group by Bcoulal last week 4.2.16) While adding the P.F.L title to my Amazon Cloud reader, one of the suggested books on that page was Ketogenic Diet Mistakes You Need to Know. I added that as well. Read this and P.F.L in their entirety and I am about 70 percent complete with the Art and Science book. Mind blown. After I break my 24 fast at dinner tonight with some LCHF chili that I made and froze back on 4.3.16, I will transition to a 16/8 IF for this week and next week to a 18/6 IF similar to what Cristian does and see if this IF works for me. Thanks again Bcoulal for The Art and Science... suggestion. Make today and everyday count warriors.

Great work there Ches, all that information will be spinning around in your head for a few weeks and you get the urge to try it all, all at the same time! LOL! I like the freedom it gives me, freedom from cravings, hunger and fatigue. As long as I keep my chin out of the carbs plate I am free of all of that. The minute my carbs start to crawl back up, all of that starts up again. Cause and effect!

Would you recommend the book by Zot? Nice loss. It's always good to find what works for us.

I really admire the way you devour literature, I read a lot myself but find it challenging when my three year old is demanding attention!

@northernmusician, I highly recommend Persistent Fat Loss by Zot. I finished this up in 2 days and I am re-reading it now. This maybe become my go-to book I will use when I share with others my strategy on IF/LCHF and how to work around setback one may experience. I really like his common sense approach getting into Ketosis vs that of the popular approach of consuming massive amounts of fatty foods and drastically reducing carbohydrates. A example of his common sense approach would be that of buying hard salami. The one he purchases only contains: ground meat, salt, pepper, natural condiments, and natural membrane. He recommends avoiding most foods containing labels, but if you must, make sure it doesn't contain additives, unnatural coloring agents, preservatives and added sugar. Hmmmn, sounds similar to the LCHF chili recommended by Bcoulal that I made, ate, froze for future and enjoy. Granted, I am just starting out so I am only focusing on the macros, however, as I progress, I will fine tune it and improve upon it. I am very happy with my progress and the support of my FS family.
