JockoT's Journal, 24 Jan 16

Fair pleased with myself. Mrs Jocko bought a couple of Strawberry tarts (fresh cream), yesterday, and there was one left in the fridge. I told her I wouldn't eat it and asked her if she wanted it. She said "No". So I threw it in the bin!!!!

Hey jockoT quick question which I look to you to answer as your weight loss is not only steady but fantastic. How are you incorporating the 5:2 into your lifestyle, are you calorie counting and sticking to 200 calories below your rdi 6 days a week then reducing them further on the 7th day?

Hi Jo. I just started the 5:2 to try and get over the Christmas, New Year "hump". Friday (weigh-in day) to Tuesday I am looking to stick to my 1800 calories, then Wednesday and Thursday are my "Fasting" days. While I was working, I tried 5:2 (with no reductions the other days), sticking to 500 - 600 calories each day. That was after watching the Horizon programme. It worked well. Unfortunately, once I retired, I was unable to stick at it, being at home all day. The difference now is I am restricting my calories to AROUND 800 - 900. This allows me to delay my breakfast until Mrs T is having her lunch (cereal and Alpro Almond), then I have a Lidl Ready Meal at 5pm (again with my better half). I find it relatively easy to be very strict with myself, knowing it is only for the two days. I have to be careful that I don't have a good weigh in, then pig out!

Well done Jocko, especially on the strawberry tart! I agree, you don't have to cut down as much as the Horizon programme said. If you eat about half of your normal daily allowance on any two days in the week, it has a significant impact. You still have to eat reasonably on the other days though. On my two low-cal days I eat three snack-sized 'meals'. That works for me, though I find it's best to eat very slowly, or they are gone in seconds and my brain hasn't had a chance to register that I've eaten!

Hey jockoT, thanks for the info, it's something I may consider at some point, it's obviously suiting you, I think when you have lost so much weight it's good to shake things up, I allow 1800 cals which is about 200 under my rdi aswell :-)

Wow way to go!!! lol about it being different being at home....I asked my husband why does a salad taste like heaven when I eat it at work and like pure hell when I eat it at home for lunch!!

I would happily go to work on those two days with nothing, then have a weight watchers meal, on my return. The reason I was going by the Horizon figures, Heidi, was partly to get the benefits to other than just my weight.
