Something super duper humbling just happened. I saw my doc and she told me that the results from my latest bloodwork weren't awesome. First time ever. My cholesterol was elevated and my thyroid levels were off. She told me to follow a Mediterranean diet, bring back more cardio, and gave me a script for a thyroid ultrasound. I blame cheese on this. Dang!

At least you are taking care of yourself and going to the doctor to get checked out. It’s an easy fix, just takes discipline. Small amount of feta cheese is Mediterranean 😉. You got this girl

Oh no. I’m so sorry. Trust me you are almost 40 and all kinds of things could start happening. Stay on top of your health girl. Had some wake up calls in my late 30s as well and that’s why I am where I am today. My best to you. 🩷🙏🏻

Going on a cut usually helps with bloodwork. Also when was the bloodwork taken? Was it during your stress time at work? That could probably affect your hormone lvls too.

You are coming off a stressful period at work, too... I know you've got this. We're your cheering squad! 💙

I think we're around the same age, I also had very elevated cholesterol a couple years ago, got it back in normal range, gave myself a little more freedom with my diet, then it was slightly elevated again. At our age I think it's possible to control it with our eating habits. Not sure that will be possible forever, though. Good luck, hope the thyroid stuff turns out ok.

Oh no! You are starting to become unyoung!! I’m with wifey on this, strange things start to happen to you when you get close to 40. Except for me, my 40s were awesome, great health and even had a heart attack!!

Oh dear. Cheese problematic food for sure

Thank you, Sterny, I appreciate that. 💖 Yes, I’m definitely going to make some changes and improve the situation that I am able to control. Not sure about the thyroid result though - that’s a tough one. It’s actually interesting how Mediterranean diet is so close to a vegetarian one. I am not a huge fan of most seafood (unless we talkin sushi), so I bet I’ll end up twinning with you on my new WOE.

Wifey, thank you, love. That’s right! Getting older is no fun! I still feel like I’m in my late 20s, so I’m very confused, lol! My doctor mentioned the word “peri-menopause” at our last apt and I was like.. EXCUSE ME. My life is only beginning?? lol! Definitely important to stay on top of my health.. not only for aesthetics, but for my health. At least I know what’s causing the fatigue now. Time to make some changes.

good luck sounds like you have some easy fixes to get things moving in the right direction

Super, very possible! But I don’t know.. I feel like I’m always stressed, but I hide it well. Although I’ve never had an abnormal blood work result besides being a little deficient in some vitamins/minerals. I gave a full panel yesterday, so we’re going to test everything again. I almost feel like those results are someone else’s and got mixed up at the lab! lol. I’m definitely back on my cut now, but I’m not going to be as concerned about getting my protein in. But I have been consistently gaining weight despite not making any changes, so the thyroid thing would actually explain so much. Both my parents survived thyroid cancer, so they’re being super cautious with me because of the family history. Crazy stuff.

Unity, thank you so much, that’s so kind 💖 I’m here for you too, sis. Hope all is well in your world

I was able to give up cheese for a year, and my bad lipids went way down, but I ended up going back and even super-indulging. Cheese is like a lover that you can't quit. These days, I'll have cheese once in a while, but it's not a regular part of my diet, and I don't make things like Mac and cheese. I'm still working on finding that balance.

You submitted another already?? I’d wait till a 10-15lb drop, thiccness. Tough call on the thyroid problem, maybe you can get on trt and throw on slabs of muscles 😏

I don't like all this "unyoung talk" ... pouts in the corner of the room /sigh (I will be 39 on May 31). Don't say such terrible things about cheese not the cheese... 🧀 😶😲💫 Seriously though sucks about the visit sorry you have had a stressful day. But at at least you have a plan of action to work on it. And the Mediterranean diet has some really tasty meals on it as long as you can afford it you don't have to eat fish they have lots of great other dishes. Good eats!

Cheesy, my mom had thyroid cancer as well and had to have it removed. I was struggling with thyroid not functioning well for a few years but it is now in the low low normal range. They wish the numbers were higher as do i but i am off thyroid meds. Hope that happens for you.

Nobody gets it perfect…keeping it keeping on - or off?

You may want to take a break on the cruciferous greens (kale, Brussels, spinach, broccoli). It’s a real thing. https://www.wellandgood.com/kale-thyroid-connection-goitrogens/ Your co-workers may love you more as well.

Sorry to hear about this, but it’s great that you are getting ahead of it. Good luck on your future tests. I’m sure you will get this figured out! 👍🏻😊

Have you heard about the second test yet?
