Yfritz - Well, there's no worms in the vid, just a lady burying the thing I got convinced to buy. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/gUN9t58J7_Q?si=yThkguuIZMyv7gS_

Bear🧸 no no no my worms are not “pets”🤣 They don’t wag their tails when I feed them. I keep them to harvest their castings, which I use to enhance soil biodiversity in my garden. The whole operation is a slow process, it’s like watching paint dry, but slow is beautiful and I’m consumed by its richness and complexity. BTW redwing blackbirdies are here, ever so exuberant, and I will always think about you whenever I hear their sound.

Cindy🪱 you must revive your worm factory, like today✌🏼I’m a bit confused about inground worm composting though, and I’m overcome with doubting thoughts. I read a lot about it and so called “facts” are not adding up🤔 Help🆘

Unity💙 how have you been? Good I hope! Of course, FS is a fitness app and I should take my verbal diarrhea elsewhere🤣 But hear me out. Online platforms are increasingly proprietary and I am turned off by that. I clicked the link to a post on Medium (similar to Substack I think), and despite the author’s mediocrity it was paywalled🤣 I think the innocent era of the digital communities is over. FS still refrains from commodification of the users and it is benign, and I stay here because of that.

Sharon thank you! I loved the valve box idea, I might get me one too…. But today I am plagued by doubts about inground vermicomposting. Help me understand. I saw an amply sized population of native earthworms in the area where I plan to establish a garden bed. Those worms are quite different from the ones I keep indoor, I think they eat minerals in soil and they don’t process kitchen scraps like compost worms do. Yet gardeners seem to be all hyped up about inground worm composting using native earthworms. I’m very confused right now. Any thoughts?

yfritz, night crawlers compost for sure. And I'm seeing folks on YouTube and Reddit adding red wrigglers, but a few end up with mostly night crawlers after a while. I would just like ta nice clean way to handle my kitchen scraps, whatever helpful critter wants to eat them.
