Okey dokey so... hypothyroidism.

Study notes...

Symptoms that I have, that are common.
fatigue (ongoing for maybe 5 yrs, probably not hypothyroidism)
dry skin
weight gain (well, hard to lose weight at any rate.)
Elevated cholesterol
puffy face (recently)
impaired memory (possibly. foregetting everyone's names lately).

So with the cholesterol (eat that elephant sandwich one bite at a time) the doctors want me on statins. But if it is being caused by underfunctioning thyroid, then fixing the thyroid issue may well fix the cholesterol issue also.

So how do they do?

Thyroid instructed to act by Pituitary which is instructed to act by Hypothalmus. Thyroid creates T4 which is turned into T3 by gut and liver. So so far, we have 5 possible places for this to go wrong, probably more, as organs all impact each other.

For me: TSH (created in the pituitary to instruct the thyroid to act). needs to get down to between 1.8 and 3.0, My TSH is le 5.4, too high.

My T4 is 14.4.

What is most common cause of hypothyroidism?
In western world, Hashimoto’s disease
test thyroid peroxidase Ab to check for Hashimotos.
Causes?
A combination of one’s genetic makeup and being exposed to certain environmental factors (e.g., infection, stress, or excessive iodine intake) I have been taking a LOT of antibiotics in recent times, and have been under enormous stress. so ...

Things I can do to see if they help before my next bloods are done.

1. continue with low carb as low as possible to avoid sugar/inflammation
2. keep healthy, drink a lot of water (filtered, with no chlorine or fluorine as these also accumulate in the thyroid)
3. self-care, reduce stress
4. take some probiotics to help the gut (low carb has already helped ongoing gutsaches massively)
5. Zinc & selenium - ensure good levels.

Liver detox?
Avoid allergens: wheat, corn, soy, lectins, Avoiding them anyway - low carb.

see what happens next.

I can relate to the thyroid problems. They had to remove my thyroid back in January. I kept going into a thyroid storms my own body started to eat my heart muscles. Now I'm trying to get weight back down, and become healthy again you can get through this.
