Gemstar123's Journal, 21 Feb 23

Currently over halfway through my pregnancy. I have put on a lot of weight since getting pregnant. I had a lot of trouble with breathlessness, causing me to give up my gym membership, exercise, just general physical activities; after months of going to the doctors about this problem, finally get diagnosed with anaemia. Been taking medication and my breathlessness has eased now. But, as it took so long, being miserable with lack of activity and turning to food in boredom and comfort; I have now gained a lot. I want to start losing weight, but safely for my babies sake. I was going to just ensure I consumed 1800 calories a day; which is what is recommended anyway.
I know it's a long shot; but has anyone here tried to lose weight whilst pregnant? How did it go? I also want to get back into my exercises again, so any tips on how to start exercise whilst over halfway pregnant would also be helpful. Thanks for listening to me 😊

I'm at the very beginning of my first pregnancy, so I'm no expert on the topic, but I would personally try to focus more on eating healthy, wholefoods and staying active than on actual weight loss. I stopped gym this week because being unsure of what I should and shouldn't do was driving me crazy, so I'll try to find help in this area. Today I came across this channel https://youtube.com/@womensworkouts I saw they have some videos for pregnant ladies, and I think some program too that you can join. I'll look more into it because this lady seems like she knows what she's talking about. You can check it out 😊

Gems, congratulations 🎊 any exercise that you were doing before, should be OK to do while pregnant BUT because you had/have so.e issues and stopped exercise for a while, I wouldn't think it safe to go back to your usual workouts. I agree with nunido and fibro,,healthy eating and walking is the way to go, keeping you and baby safe is the most important for now and weight loss later,,glad u finally got properly diagnosed and hopefully ul start to feel better ❤️

Swimming is good too, and yoga but do try and find someone professionally trained in pregnancy yoga to be safe. Good luck. I put on about 6 stone when I wSas pregnant through lockdowns and comfort eating and regret not being more conscious of my health now
