I am rubbish at deadlifting with the Olympic bar. I am the wrong build.......long levers, long back makes it uncomfortable The hex bar is better for me or kettle bells. And I love single leg deadlift and all its variations. Where there is a will, there is a way!

It's supposed to be comfortable? I have to wait until my vision returns and then go hang from the monkey bars to decompress. I think whatever kind of deadlift works for you is good to do.

Comfort is relative in the gym! Maybe awkward is a better word.

No, you're right, it's uncomfortable. So worth it though. Both deadlifts and squats.

I like doing deadlift now that I have learned the correct form, and it does feel so much better and full leg exercise.

Yes, form matters. I really have to work hard at keeping my back flat. It all looks great until the time comes actually to pull the thing off the floor...

Arms are only there to hold onto the weight, the effort comes from the legs pushing the ground downwards, looking always at the highest point you can to keep the back flat.
