10 miles in just under 2.5 hours yesterday. Not exactly as speedy as I'd like, but my victory is that my troublesome knee, which has been bothering me and slowing me down for more than a year, held up really well! No sharp pain or "catches." I have hope progress is being made! I am not sore at all today!

That’s good news. Don’t overdo it though. Sounds like you and I have the same knee issues and I know if I don’t give it a break from the same movements it jumps up and bites me quite a bit. Keep it up but be careful!

So nice to hear that you knee did not give you any issues. Those are tricky joints to deal with. Keep being mindful

Thanks, br_e_co and liv! I've worked on the darn thing for ages, but somehow some different stretching I am doing seems to be allowing progress. The burning pain along the outside of the knee is going away! For sure I want to be careful, which is not something I do well... Br_e_co, I'm sorry you have troubles too. It is so disheartening to know we are strong enough and able to do so much, but a stupidly annoying joint holds us back. 😢

If the stretching you are using helps - I’d love to know which ones - PM me or if you have a link maybe you can post here? 😄👍

https://youtu.be/NnaMsxoxZ8Y Bob and Brad have good stuff! Maybe this link works? But, br_e_co, the one thing I've been especially doing, which I have not actually learned from anyone else is sitting cross legged to stretch out my hips where the IT band connects into my hips... This seems to be loosening it up. Then after sitting that way for a while I add stretch by leaning to the side... That probably doesn't make sense as a description... I'm not sure how else to explain. Anyway, everything combined... Stretches, massage, and some abduction work seems to be making a difference for my particular trouble! 😁

Thanks Melissa! And I think I get what you are talking about with crossing over legs to get a stretch- I do some of that as well. Will see if this allows me some days to run.

Gees that's a good run out with a sore knee! Well done you, but take it handy until you're up to full strength you don't want a set back.

I remember crying while riding my bike some years ago, because my knees hurt all the way. more like twinges of pain not continuous pain.

I really hope you find something that works for you, br_e_co! They are calling my issue a "syndrom" that sounds ominously long lasting... As it has been. I haven't been able to run, and I do fear those days may be behind me. Sitting around cross legged is a nice and passive way to stretch, so I'm trying to do that more... I try to warm the legs up a bit with a round of squats or stair climbing ahead of time. I guess time will tell if long term improvement is made. In the meantime, I'm glad I can walk!

Hope you aren't too sore tomorrow. Sounds optimistic.

Thanks to everyone for your encouragement! I'd love, love to run again, but at least distance walking is working out for me at the moment. 😁 I often walk 8 or 10 miles, but the exciting thing this time was the lack of pain! To just stride along and not feel a catch or burning at any point was pretty great!
