Jadecarpet's Journal, 11 Mar 21

So.. had to step back & take a much needed hiatus, Dr's orders.I had a panic attack & ended up with vertigo.
My oldest son was pushing all my buttons during the lockdown, challenging me when I would push him to get ALL his school work done. Lying about attending virtual classes, he was skipping a few (msg's from teachers informing me or asking why he wasn't present).
I was already struggling with my depression (for which I have meds already) but with my youngest son struggling with his work (dyslexic & ADD), I was spending the entire day by his side so he complete his work.
Well, I was driven to the cliff edge & my son kick me over. He's not far off 13 yrs.
Diet got kicked to the kerb. I'm back, just calorie counting. Haven't weighed myself yet but will do so tomorrow morning. I'm dreading how much I've put back on because I'm a comfort eater & night time snacker 🙈
Doing a recipe I haven't made in an age & my kids love:
Whole chicken slow boiled (simmered) with carrots, parsnips, mushrooms, swede & chopped potatoes. I normally chuck in a stock cube. I've 2 picky eaters in the house, so I remove the cooked chicken & blitz the veg. I do try to remove a few potatoes to add to plates. Lasts 2 days as my husband only eats the soup part, he hates the chicken when it's cooked like that.
Back to looking after my head space, now the kids are back to school.
Hope everyone has a good day today xxx

Lockdown schooling has been so hard, and it sounds like you’ve had it particularly tough. You can’t be expected to keep a grip on everything all the time so don’t be hard on yourself no matter what the scales say. It’s just great that you’ve taken a deep breath and got back to it. In the long run the health benefits will give you more energy and stamina. Your chicken dish sounds great. Can totally relate to family members wanting menu adaptations! 🤪
