Hi Bill. I also am watching my calories per the recommendation of a good friend. He put me on a 800 calorie diet to start with and this helped me purge and get out of the gluttony place I was in. Since, then, I adjusted my cal intake to between 1000-1200 and sometimes 1500. I also am experimenting with where the dividing line is to where I gain, where I loose and where I maintain weight. Its been good getting to know my body works. I lost 22lbs in about two months just by watching my calories and eating foods that are most natural (raw). I use this app as well, to keep accountable. My goal is to loose 30 more lbs but not giving it a timeframe. Just figure it will happen as I keep this up. 😁. Also, just want to add that I do eat snack food, like chips and a dessert from time to time thats abit high in cal as a reward.

Hello Fresh provides delicious meals, I subscribed for a while, but it was too much food prep and cooking for just me. Bill your plans and goal sound great. Good luck, I know you will attain them.

A new concept. Nuts instead of starch! Awesome, and certainly well presented. (Not to say potatoes even though white are bad. There is certainly much worse and they do have nutritional value being cheap and sating.

Shirfleur ❣️I think I’m going to try a food box subscription. There’s so many companies to choose from & Hello Fresh seems popular. Definitely interested in hearing about the pros & cons from you, Draglist & others.

I once had falaphel dinner from Amazon which I received from food give away at the Sr. Center. For $15 (I checked online), I would have been very disappointed. For $15 I would want it ready to heat and eat. I'm thankful I got to try for free. As I recall there were two pita pockets, a packets of falaphel mix, a green onion or two, some parsley or somesuch and a packet or two of sauce. Probably 5x the cost of contents and took maybe half an hour to make. Taste--okay but nothing to write home about. Guess I am spoiled because I have Mother's Market and restaurants nearby to purchase all the ingredients. My first falaphel pita was in Israel. Very hummy straight from the frying oil and fresh ingredients.

GibJig: pros - EVERYTHING is included, tiny bits of herbs or spices, very fresh fruit and veggies, usually frozen meat or seafood, all measured out for you, excellent instructions, ample portions, favorable meals; cons - because everything is fresh, it must be used within one or two days, whether you feel like cooking or not (I think I had to order at least three meals per order, something like that), so much more time spent on prep and cooking than I wanted. The other thing I found disturbing was the packaging, very heavily insulated, bulky boxes plus lots of internal packaging to throw away every week.
