Quick question for everyone;

How many calories do you all consume per day? Just want to know what is healthy/recommended. Think I might be going a bit low recently as I’m doing much less exercise

I consume just below 2000 calories a day, which is arround 1000 less than I wound need to maintain my weight. As 1lb of fat is worth arround 3500 calories I should loose 2lb each week. you should try to work out how many calories you need to maintain your weight and then work out what you need to do to hit your goals.

It depends to be honest. I’m currently very active (physical job + workout 3-5 times a week) Typically I consume between 1600-1800 but sometimes if I’m hungry I eat up to 2000. I just listen to my body, never starving myself

if you want to lose weight a good calculation is 10 times your goal weight in pounds. eg I want to be 130 lbs so my goal daily calories is 1300

To be honest I don’t have nowhere near what most people have I only have about 1200 I have 3 meals porridge in morning to lower cholesterol around 333g chicken breast plus vegetables for protein and my dinner varies plus between 2 & 3 Litres water and don’t touch extras and don’t eat later than 4 o’clock

I would not recommend weight loss without exercise the first 20kg I lost was without exercise and I lost muscle as well as fat

to lose weight, work out your basal metabolic rate, and consume 400-500 calories per day below that. mine worked out to be about 1200 to support healthy weight loss

When not dieting I eat about 2100 calories a day. When I get serious I drop that to 1500 a day. But usually settle between 1600-1800 to lose weight slowly.

I accept that I will have to increase my calorie intake to maintain but to be honest I won’t change what I eat I guess that’s why my diet works I will maybe add a few other things but that’s what I set out to do more healthy food but food I like

We are all so different Razor. Different body compositions, height, activity levels, etc so it is important to find out what works for you as an individual. And then stick to it!

hi Cleo Daily life for me now is being at home, meal times flexible.( I actually miss my office life and structure to the day) So I am finding I eat around 1000 Cal's, typically muesli breakfast or nothing sometimes. tend to save calories for family evening meal time. ( which is probably not the best way!)

About 900 a day I've gone from 63kg to 58kg but has taken 6 weeks

I'm playing around 1000kcal a day when not on holiday 🙂

When I was sticking to around 1200 a day the weight was dropping off me. I had says when I might hit 1800 but that didn't cause a problem. I just need to get back into that habit again to shed the "Covid pounds" *cough*. This is mainly down to not having to walk Roco twice a day so I have got lazy.... I am feeling it but that is changing this week so, hopefully, I will be on form again soon.

At 1200 a day I dropped half a stone in four weeks.

Gosh, I feel like a greedy pig! I seem to eat more than everyone else!

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I wasn’t sure about my intake as I’m doing around 800-1000 at the moment, but seems like that’s okay apropos everyone else! Just that I was quite active before lockdown (played squash regularly) but no more squash in lockdown, and that was pretty much all of my exercise just gone ): Not sure how to balance my intake with the sudden/complete halt of my sports life

I found the halting of my usual sporting activities really hard to deal with. I have a way around it now but it is nothing like my previous endeavors. It did send my metabolism haywire for a while but things are more settled now that I have a regular exercise routine again.

Wow I feel greedy too! I’m on 1850 a day and have lost 13lbs in 9 weeks so it’s working! When I get down to my goal weight 11st I aim to be around 1700. I don’t know how I could survive on lower! X x

Cleopatra - that is why I stuck on the pounds - less exercise has meant I should be reducing intake, but that went up a bit cos of having an elderly friend sheltering with us. Meant I was cooking for him and being lazy so I ate the same instead of watching what I ate. Both of those things will change in a week as he is heading home...... Remember everyone is different so might need more or fewer calories. A balancing act to find what works for you.
