Brown rice is a little lower and cous cous lower still at around 178 cal per serving... But there's nothing like proper white rice with a curry!

have you tried cauliflower rice as a substitute?

Thanks for the tips guys! I've never tried cauliflour rice - I'll give it a go, and brown rice too (sometimes appetite just demands carbs eh!) haha so true Pauly, I'll judt have to save white rice dishes for an occasional treat 😉

cauliflower rice is nice but best to use fresh cauliflower and chop fine rather than the bought stuff.

We were calorie counting and my husband asked me the weight of the rice. It was cauliflower, he was convinced he'd eaten rice with his curry. This is the weigh(!) to go if you can't live without curry :D Just blitz fresh cauli in the food processor.

Loving your meat to rice ratio, sorry sacrifice that must be made 😞

I'm not a fan of cauliflower rice. it goes off too quick and it's pungent. I love cauliflower though! half a cup of rice isn't too bad if you lower the calories elsewhere. vegan or vegetarian curry would make up for it. swapping the creamy sauce for tomato based instead would too.

Thank you so much everyone 🤗 you're all so lovely and helpful! I will be sure to grab a cauliflower and have a look at sauce labels when I have my next shop and try a veggie curry 😊👌

I think it's more portion control, I have a bag of microwave rice here and half 125g is 209 calories. Put some veg into it and it will bulk out and be more filling.

Try sweet potato rice (Full Green make one available in most supermarkets) goes great with curry or just plain meats. A fraction of the calories and carbs of white rice (and not pungent like cauliflower rice can be!)
