I imagine so. You are retaining a ton of water. There's no way you went up 18 pounds in 3 days in terms of actual weight gain. Water has not only mass but also volume. Caffeine is a diuretic. Drinking coffee/diet soda while abstaining from salty foods might help a bit.

Also, check the batteries in your scale (if it is digital) ....When the batteries go in mine...(around each 18 mos of use)...I usually notice...as the weight readings fluctuate wildly within minutes...as I check and recheck...my weight gain...or loss. Now...this says a lot about my OCD...but also bears noting that somewhat on the fact that if I put in fresh batteries...the scale, at least, goes back to normal.. and a steady reading of my weight.🤪 Not to make light of your situation...hang in there.... Keep heart and carry on.

Agree with kpw. Using the body weight planner at https://www.niddk.nih.gov/bwp, I calculated that you would need to consume more than 8000 calories per day to gain 18 lbs in 3 days. The standard rule of 3500 would say that you needed to consume more than 20,0000. No way you sustained that high of a caloric intake. Disclaimer, had to fudge the gov calculator to go from 150 to 168 lbs. It would not let you go from 172 to 190.

Hell yeah it can! My calves bloat up so big I can’t even wear some of my pants. Must be over an inch. Very painful too 😕
