mskestrela's Journal, 07 Aug 16

Welp. I guess sushi did me in again. Not even down and dirty junk food, just some rice, seaweed and fish. Go figure.
For the first time since I started this, I'm almost ready to chuck the discipline and give it up. 3 weeks to drop 5 lbs, and 5 days to put them back on after one carby meal? Really? And that's getting right back on plan after the one meal. WTF?
81.8 kg Lost so far: 8.9 kg.    Still to go: 13.8 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Oh please don't give up. You've learned so much and been such an inspiration to so many, not to mention that until that water fast everything was going so well. I was thinking about trying that fast for awhile but after seeing the results from you and Lady, I know I won't ever try it. For some reason it seems to throw everything off. I don't know nearly enough to understand it, but I do know that you can get back on track and that the weight will start to fall off again. You helped me though my frustrations, now I hope you can work through yours.

Thanks, Sue. I may take a break for a week or so, and just eat whatever I want. As an experiment, of course. It feels like I'm starting over, anyway, so why not? LOL Fortunately, it doesn't mean I'll go back to sugar, because I know that weight aside, my body can't handle it. We'll see. Right now it's the frustration talking, because I just weighed in. I appreciate your kind and supportive words more than you realize.

NOOOO don't do it. That is how i felt last month. I was ready to cry! We work so hard and the dang stall. I read on the internet , and the internet is always right, that 3-4 week stalls happen and that is when we give up, but if we just pull from the bottom of our soul a little more, just squeeze that strength out, you can get past this! I don't have diet advice, but i'm sure some others will chime in. ONLY 30 to go, don't waste what you already lost, you know how hard it was to get here. Question, do you log everything you eat? I looked at your journal. I'm assuming your as short as I or shorter. Your calories are low. When i was there, i majorly stalled. I'm trying to up my calories slowly while upping my exercise slowly. SLOW IS SO FRUSTRATING. I do know my BMR because i had a test with a mask and all at a doctors office, and know i have totally screwed up my BY dieting. Hang in there. If you wan't i can look over your foods and make suggestions, but i do think everyone needs to figure it out on their own or get advice from someone who is following the exact model you are. I'm still figuring it out, tweaking every week. What broke me out of plateau was eating more fat, but you already do that, and cutting my carbs but i think you already do that. I also had a week of higher calories of only fat that i think helped snap my body out of it. Just things to think about, it they help great. I hope some others can chime in. PLEASE don't give up, were sooooo close, its been sooo long, we don't want to deal with this the rest of our lives. We just need to figure it out and in the long run, one month is nothing in the whole picture.

Kes, you know the fluctuations in your body vs. the scale. Pls hang in there. look back at previous food logs. What did they look like when you were losing? Get back on that horse!

Kes, I looked over your stats and saw a nice steady drop in June @60% of RDI around 11oo cal. Maybe that's a moderate place to be. Get the carbs out because they ask for more. And maybe pushing the fasting pushes your body into swings. I'm talking to myself as well. I've allowed some carbs back in and the weight has started to creep up; I'm feeling discouraged and losing my momentum.

No,no,no. Stick with it. It happens a lot to me. Patience will pay off.

That's the frustrating part, buys..I DID get right back on the same things I was eating when I was losing, and I still gained 5 lbs in 5 days! I've been keeping my macros in the zone, too. It makes no sense whatsoever. @Lizzy, you're welcome to view my diet log. I log every morsel that passes my lips, except water and iced tea (unsweetened). If you see something that stands out, do let me know.

Carbs cause fluid retention. Maybe the meal was high sodium, too.

To gain 5lbs of Fat you would have to consume 17500 calories over and above what you burn - so it's not Fat. Don't quit. It will sort itself out.

@Erika, maybe you're right. I have kept my carbs down under 20 since the sushi day. Perhaps you're right about the extended fasting 'scaring' my body into storing fat. Hmmm..something to ponder. Thanks. I'll hang in there if you will!

Salt! Water retention!!

water is right

That's the problem with the CICO argument, Jocko. All calories are not created equal! Some people can eat 2000 Kcal a day and never gain a pound, while others can be under 1000 and gain. It's not a simple math equation. Some people can eat high carbs and lose, some can't.

How about you relax and follow HFLC to a T let the body get settled in and stop trying to WORK A DIFFERENT PROGRAM// and just be happy with what the body is doing .. you are trying to ... WORK THE BODY.. and it will not let you.... one meal of..REG FOODS.. and i am up no matter what I eat.... so relax and letter happen......it will work if you let it

My husband brought home blueberries and I've been eating them; they are too sugary. They're gone now. Monday morning is a good time for me to get back on track to my old routines. I'm going to try going back to work tomorrow; the pneumonia is gone and my energy is beginning to come back. I'm hoping that the return to my work routine will help me turn around this upward fluctuation. We'll keep in touch Kes; I'm thinking this has set you up for a whoosh!

I'm so glad you're feeling better, Erika! I passed up blueberries at the store the other day, although I was sorely tempted. The good thing about this moment of frustration is that I have nothing "naughty" in the house to go off the rails with. LOL!

Kes, hubby and I both weighed this morning. My food is logged from last night. He ate a cheeseburger, bbq beef, bbq pork, 6 pieces sweet cornbread, 20 pineapple chunks, 1 1/2 ear corn on the cob, 4 slices watermelon, red and green grapes, and two cans of Blue Sky soda. I gained 2.8 lb, he LOST 3 lb. Uh, really? He did break down tents, tables, and chairs after dinner.

Yes, sushi has the rice and sodium...easy to bloat - it will drop again.

Lady, your husband's meal sounded delicious 😋. You had me at cornbread!

MsK and Lady; keep on, keepin' ON!! Don't let this "carbs-up" episode get YOU! Stay the course, you CAN DO IT!!! I know, I had a carb-up day too.... and it took me almost a week to unload the weight again
