I was given a bag of home grown apples so I had a go at making Apple Crumble. My first ever attempt. Followed the BBC recipe but added a measure of cognac to the apples, "for taste". Pleased with the results.

My grandmother was the master of crumbles! I miss them so much. I make them by eye/taste from remembering how she did them. she made a cherry one once, god it was good!!!!

Just tried it after making my Honey and Whisky cake. Added a good double, but you cannot taste it as cognac, just imparts a nice flavour. I don't photograph food. Always looks unappetising to me. Cookery books don't show real food, as it photographs so badly. They add artificial colouring and the like, to get the results they show.

Sounds wonderful. I wish I could eat apples. I can eat a few berries, but the other fruits make my sugar crazy.
