As I start another two day fast I find that, despite only eating three day in the last week, my weight is slowly creeping back up. I know why. Every eating day has become a Carb Fest. On my eating days I am indulging in all the things I have denied myself for the past two years. I know it is a phase, but a phase I need to stop. I will have to start following my own (and Dr Fung’s) advice, of reducing refined Carbs, especially sugar.
This next week I am going to have two 48 hour fasts. This will get me on track for eating on Valentine’s Day (Tuesdays are normally a fasting day). We have a special meal planned, with a champagne breakfast and nice wine throughout the day. Madge is on holiday Monday Tuesday, so we will relax and enjoy ourselves.
Today I am off to my brother’s for a guitar session. We both miss playing in bands (him more recently than me) and our jams give us a chance to enjoy music other than solo. If only we could get a nice singer to join us!

It's sugar that gets me all the time Jocko. It ain't easy. I do admire your attitude and determination.. Will you still be fasting prior to your operation? 💮

Mrs M: I will continue to fast right up to my op. The less weight round my middle the better. That and the fact you have to fast for 24 hours before an op anyway, so after my Valentine Day I'll just stick to the day on, day off pattern which will have the Sunday before the op a normal fasting day.

I don't know if you've subscribed to Dr. Fung's blog, but he just posted a 2-part article on how toxic sugar is to our bodies. Really fascinating read.

Sounds like you are getting back on track. I only do intermittent fasting, but last November and December I decided to give myself a break and have whatever I wanted... fast forward and I'm up 15 pounds. We gotta make sure to stay focused. Good luck Jocko!

Jocko you are truly a romantic. The longest fast that I did was 23 hours and I found myself eating whatever I fancied that night. Wonder why we do this?

I think theres a section of or brain with a label on it: "Self Control". Attached to the top is a huge button called "Override". That button has a hair trigger when you are a carbaholic. It activates when you aren't looking...........
