Windlepoones's Journal, 12 Dec 16

I have been rather busy of late, but eventually got around to seeing my Doctor. My visit was with regard to my latest cholesterol blood test. The results were really good, so much so I have been taken off cholesterol medication. I am finally free of the dreaded statins. I have been advised to continue with my LCHF diet and in three months’ time I will be blood tested again, to see if I can maintain my normal cholesterol levels without the use of statins. Needless to say I am delighted.

That's fantastic news! So pleased you're getting the health results that are so important. Hopefully that's another GP who has been converted away from the low fat high carb way of eating. No wonder you're delighted - you deserve it 👍🎉

Brilliant news, Windlepoones. Congratulations. I'm really hoping my OH will get to that stage eventually, or at least reduce the dose.

Brilliant news. I ditched the statins a while back. I decided that quality of life justified the risk.

How fantastic, well done. You've worked hard for this result, you should be very proud.

Wow, well done. My doctor was reluctant to reduce my statins, so I reduced the dose anyway, as I can just buy them here in Spain without a prescription, and the latest test results were fine. Do you remember what you cholesterol count was before you started taking them? Mine was a bit over 11 originally, which is why the doctor thinks I shouldn't stop taking them. It was around 5 a couple of months ago, on 10 mgs per day. I'm hoping it will go down a bit more next test, now that the weight is down again.

Brilliant - and just proves that the LCHF diet does not cause high cholesterol readings. I wish all GP's would realise this instead of giving out prescriptions all the time. My husband only took statins for a couple of weeks as he didn't like the side-effects. Since we changed our diets, his cholesterol is at normal levels too.
