Oh dear, been gradually gaining weight over last month -- eating too many sweet things & refined carbs too often, getting too little sleep & too much stress, and letting activity levels drop. Bad combination! Also had rubbish fitness-for-riding instructor for last month who kept leaving me too injured to manage any exercise at all. Sorted different personal trainer now (subsidised by my work) who's fabulous & really knowledgeable. At last can get back to my regular runs, which have been really missing. Struggling a lot with sugar cravings just now, despite the rest of my eating being healthy. Need to get water intake up again too. Any other tips gratefully received!

This might sound weird, but when I crave sugar it is usually because I haven't had enough protein. To help with you water intake you can drink a bottle with a crystal light pack added, the next one without, and repeat. Sometimes I have a hard time drinking water all day, but I don't want to get hooked on drinking flavored drinks. So that's what I do.

Def right about the protein-sugar relationship, tho I do try for a daily 125g protein. Is a "crystal light pack" added electrolytes? I've been wondering if I should use these a bit, partly to combat leg cramps.

Crystal light is just a drink mix marketed to people on diets. However, I am certain that there are drink mixeds with electrolytes at your local sports store. Nuum comes to mind.

This is twice this week I've heard about electrolytes.. I drink a lot of water.. and I've been adding the Crystal Lite to some.. but I wonder if I need some electrolytes too. My masseuse recommended one called Hydrate24. Haven't tried it yet though.
