Well, this weight gain is sobering. This is likely down to my food choices and portions because I have been doing my exercise.
Having said this, I bought a body composition scale. If that is correct, I have gained muscle and water (which are supposedly good). I have lost a bit of fat as well. So I’m not going to get too hung up on the numbers right now.
With exercise, I actually went quite hard last week. This week was a bit of a recovery week.
Moving forward I am going to limit rice, bread, potatoes and milk in my coffee. I will try my best to understand and stay within my macros. Most importantly, I will leave my daughter’s treats alone! No more crisps. No more fairy cakes!
Next week, I’m going to up my pace with walking (my knees cannot manage running). This weekend is about recovery and stretch. And no wine!

That feeling you get when you have to do an extra workout because you gave into temptation and ate something you shouldn't have.

Data tracking continues. I am feeling the need to set a SMART goal for the next six weeks. That is all about improving frequency of exercise. I was mostly sedentary at the end of last year. Time to turn that around.
Target by the beginning of March is to improve my exercise summary from 19% to 65% in the green.
Exercise duration target is 30 minutes per day minimum of cardio and resistance training.
Target average heart rate is 125bpm (about 70% of my max HR). Here we go.

Surprised to have this drop! I had a couple of evenings when I did not make great choices. Just think what I might have achieved if I chose something more healthy ... like a piece of fruit. Of course, I think Thursday when I ate nearly nothing helped. That was not on purpose. Some prescription medicine upset my stomach to the degree I didn't even want to think about food. Either way, a drop is a drop. I'll take it. 😊

NERD ALERT!
Disclaimer: No one is paying me to state the following. Opinions are my own.
I am so excited about working out again after getting a Polar H7 heart monitor (approx. £37 with postage) and free Polar Beat phone app.
I was using a Polar FT4 watch and heart monitor when I started my workouts a couple of months ago. I complemented this by logging my stats (workout duration, calories burned, average/max HR and time in workout zone) in a spreadsheet to track my progress.
Now all this information is kept in the app for me with the added benefit of showing me level of workout intensity and minutes at that intensity. 💪🏾👊🏾
I’m a sucker for data and now I’m feeling quite competitive with myself. I want to work out more and harder and just do more stuff ... within reason and without injury of course.
Have a great day everyone!
