Water retention weight due to relaxed WOE over weekend. Wouldn't change a thing.

Here's the data for the last 3 months:

Averages
*** | Fat | Net Carbs | Protein | Cals |
Aug | 113.48 | 91.08612903 | 88.25 | 1932.32
Sept| 103.53 | 67.31733333 | 78.17 | 1755.13
Oct | 101.73 | 71.93967742 | 99.57 | 1770.35

Weight | Start | Finish | Change | Total
Aug | 216 | 210.4 | Down 5.6 | Down 5.6
Sept| 210.4 | 205.6 | Down 4.8 | Down 10.4
Oct | 205.2 | 206.6 | Up -1.4 | Down 9

Even @ 1770.35 avg daily calories, I should have been loosing weight @ around .5 pounds per week based on the traditional Calorie in Calorie out method based on my specifics: age, weight, activities.

I almost stopped logging and/or thought of throwing in the towel for logging for November but I will continue to log and tweak my efforts.

I will try to maintain a average of 17XX daily calories (for the record, I didn't have any caloric goals because I was more focused on my macros Fat / Protein / Carbs. It just happened to work out this way.)

I recall that there was a time earlier in this October that after 3 days of lowered carbs, I was full on lower calories, had energy and even struggled to eat more food. Why should I eat if I feel full? Interesting? Yes and no. To some it may be uncommon to be full on less food however, those who are fat adapted, they are full on less calories going in because their body is now accessing their fat stores as fuel.

Don't despair Ches...remember how many years it has taken us to put those pounds on and how short a time we have put in to get rid of them, lots of studies show that our body fights to regain after a loss...that's built into our DNA. Myself and many others here have had one month to two month plateaus on the way down to goal weight. It is really tough mentally at times when our good efforts aren't rewarded with highly visible results (a lower scale #), we just have to trust that things are changing and for the better. Keep on, keeping on is a great mantra....take care mate!!

For what its worth Ches, I maintain without any fat gain or loss at a CICO deficit of about 300 cal a day (theoretically that would be a loss of a pound every 12 days). I also don't lose much fat weight unless I'm averaging under 2100 recorded calories a day or upping my output to average over 2800 cal a day (a 500 cal/day deficit). I am not bothered by that as a I know that recorded food calories are averages (often optimistically low averages) and even though I try and log everything, I'm probably missing some hidden calories somewhere. However in the big picture it is very predictable for me now. It also allows me to live a real life with birthday celebrations (see last Fridy night) without stressing about losing my "grip" on where I'm at.

I'm glad you decided to continue logging. It helps most people keep their focus on the deficit between calories consumed and expended. Your loss history, micros and calorie intake seem on track. Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks John and Steven for your input. Steven, you are absolutely 100% correct with the fact that I didn't arrive at 260 lbs in Jan 2016 over night. I certainly don't plan on loosing it over night. I am having fun playing with the numbers and I also agree 100% that things are changing for me for the better. I continued to "live" in my journey and didn't miss a thing. The big challenge will come in the future when I think I have a handle on it and attempt to not log everything for 30 days. What ever the outcome, I will be prepared. Thanks again.

it's interesting to look at food menus to get ideas an to tweak my food menu as well...the more fat that comes off..the more tweaking one has to do...

Finding balance in all thing is a delicate dance. You are becoming the Fred Astaire of FS. Great going, Ches!

@Chess or anybody, I'm curious... You and others have put a lot of effort into reaching your goals. It seems that logging has helped you and many others become successful. With your goal so close at hand, why consider not logging your food intake? Maintenance has been such a challenge for me personally with the aid of logging. I'm not sure my maintenance would be going as well as it has without logging. I do have the added incentive to log because I'm diabetic. It's not about fashion with me. It's about health. I have seen more than a few people leave Fatsecret and logging, only to return months later and tens of pounds heavier. Maintenance is not easy but I think it has got to be easier than loosing, regaining and loosing the weight again. I'm just curious...

Ok, John, don't laugh, but I'm done shoving smart pop popcorn and Reese's minis in my mouth and washing it down with a Miller... All logged. I dunno. I feel I don't want to log forever

@john10251 Sometimes you can almost figure in your head what you are consuming in calories , protein, fats etc..Sometimes I think I do not want to be tied down to a computer interring Data. Some weeks I just dont want to jump on a scale, I usually can tell by the way my clothes fit..And out journeys goes on..Ches thanks for all the information, I'm going to increase my carbs maybe, just took test today to see about getting off diabetic meds..Time will tell..thank you agin , enjoyed reading your info

Go 1500 calories with 10% carbs and see how that does you. I noticed FS is a little low on actual calories and 1 Tbsp is usually 1 1/4 when measuring.

I'm enjoying the logging and I stray from recipes so looking up the values again and again and again, takes time. SO, I get why you almost took time off but I'm so glad you didn't because it keeps me focused, too. I feel really good. I'm trying to keep calories up. Three days i went under 1000 and I'm relatively active, walking in the mornings and Pilates twice a week at school. I also exercise in ten minute spurts several times a day in between studying, cooking and family chores. I don't always have time to check here to see what is happening but you do give me hope. Thank you.

Logging things here frees up that space in my head for other things. --- Coach, what about raising your intake for a bit? You're always telling us to keep our bodies guessing.

Water retention and muscle gain sounds good to me. Skin is getting saggy while loosing weight and muscles brings better appearance to the body and skin.

Thanks all. @T8U9, if were to examine my WOE in 48 hr snapshots, you will see for sure I am mixing it up. For example calorie avgs: 10/26 & 10/27 = 1578, 10/28 & 10/29 = 3078, 10/30 & 10/31 = 1512. Net carb avgs: 10/26 & 10/27 = 51.19, 10/28 & 10/29 = 177.82, 10/30 & 10/31 = 46.82. That is mixing it up for sure!! @Mal321, I never considered my self middle aged but I am. Another thing working against me is that I leave my house 5 AM and don't return to it until around 7 pm. I have limited time. Somehow and someway, I will figure out how to sculpt the body of my dreams.
