jersey_di1's Journal, 21 May 17

I managed to stick to healthy eating all week and here are the results 😀 Didn't even exercise that much as was busy spring cleaning the house all week but that must have contributed. I don't have any specific diet plan as I strongly believe that its not needed as long as I cut down on calorie intake (currently aiming for 1600) and exercise the weight will come off and I lost so far 38kg this way. I don't want to just be slim but stay healthy so never will starve myself or go on extreme diet to achieve my goals as it cannot be good for your body... Here's to another successful week hopefully. Good luck to all with their fight xxx

I agree with you, no diet required, it is clear they either do not work or are impossible to sustain either due to their ridiculous requirements or cost, I figure just eat regular food, as in what you have in your cupboard and can afford and obtain, and of course try to avoid the really bad stuff like having deep fried stuff 3 nights a week or eating a giant pizza to yourself. Start looking at the portion sizes and overall intake, this is exactly where I am at too...and have been very happy with it. Also, I do not freak out because I ate more one day, or even 2 days because 1 day in a week will not stop you from losing weight if you take care of the intake on a regular basis and even a few days in the month won't cause you too much damage, as long as the average over the month is about 4lbs then you are on target and there is no need to beat yourself up or give up and if you have a really bad day, then just accept it, you are only a regular person, not a super athlete with a will of steel, and get back on track the next day, as normal and not on some special super rations punishment. I have spent years lying to myself, and others, giving myself excuses and reasons, getting annoyed if someone said well cmon that's not really true is it, or the doc said a few choice words about the fact I was resisting the good advice, and in truth, I am/was a greedy sod compounded by the fact I was tired all the time, and also the fact I am an insulin dependent diabetic, which gives me another very real, but not really valid, excuse for my weight gain, so would try even less to take care of my food intake and blame it on this or that. I finally accepted this fact a few weeks ago, and I mean properly and truly accepted it and ditched the self-deceit and stopped looking for the non-existent magic pill or diet that will let me lose 100lbs of fat with no effort and still let me eat half a cheesecake. In that time, I eat pretty much what I like to a large extent, but I do make sure I am controlling the portions and taking an active role in limiting the overall intake over the day and week, and have lost about 1st so far. I am sure, as you and others do, I see people doing the same thing all the time, you hear it, I put on 3 lbs, I have stuck to the diet, blah blah blah, and my attitude to it now is, well, either the diet is crazy mad, or you may be pregnant or have a growing tumour or may be ill or something, so get to the doctor or you are deceiving to yourself. Anyway, I wish you well on your journey and hope that you keep up the great work and results. Regards Neil

thank you Neil. It is very true what you said. I have been overeating for a very long time and piled on weight over the years and no one to blame but myself. One day I woke up and knew if I don't stop I will be dead soon so I changed my eating habits and make good choices now with occasional treats and yes my weight does go up if I slip back to old habits but now I know when to stop and slowly am working towards my goal weight. I wish you success in your journey and stick to what's working for you but make sure you don't compromise your health doing it xx
