I started the 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet yesterday. It's purported to be effective at removing fat around and in the liver and pancreas, which evidently have a lot to do with the development of type 2 diabetes. Losing weight will also have this effect, but this diet gets weight down faster and I figure the faster I improve my insulin sensitivity the easier it is going to be to lose all the weight I need to and keep it off. The 800 kcals per day is daunting, but I have completed a week of this in the past so I know what to expect.

@Tom1104 - the book is titled "The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet" and is by Dr. Michael Mosley. There is a big study ongoing in the UK about this approach which is to be completed some time in 2018.
